I think i got duped, feedback please.

Amazing, in a bad way, to see the counterfeit issue raise its ugly head again. There is little we can do except completely stopping to trade with anyone who isn't a long time member or trader, and even that is no guarantee i.e. jojomdma.

We are victims of our own ways of trading.

Many of us, sadly, warned of this happening years back when the **** traders and ebay resellers started to turn sharing local great beers into the gray market beer commodities market. I wonder how many of the old timers who argued against us anti ebay/gray market folks have now changed their minds?

 

Maybe you got a fake bottle also?

This really sucks that this is happening here.

 

We could require a pic with date and member name in it. Although it wouldn't help with all, this bottle would have been called out as a fake before it was shipped.

@yoitsarch did you notify Toppling Goliath abouth this situation? I am curious what their take is on the bottle you received. I would also think they would want to know about potentially fake bottles in the market. Really crappy situation over all and sad to see.

 

I sincerely hope the individual in question got duped himeself and unknowingly traded the imitation/counterfeit beer. Unfortunately, his response to the matter and the fact that this possibly involves both bad Assassin and Mexi Cake, I find it doubtful.

 

To be clear, I stood in line starting at 0430 to get the mexi cake....he could have drank it and refilled/recapped, but I sent him the real deal. He at least started w legit beer, but hell, that's prob what he did w the assassin as well...

Can you buy wax and match the color? Maybe. Can you make your bottle look like the waxing on the brewery bottle?

Almost impossible.

 

Not that I've made trades with anyone in question but I think I'll be spending my saturday morning going through every bottle I have that wasn't purchased. Yikes.

 

Im gonna say he opened it up and drank it, then filled with a random stout. And to get the wax color to match, he just melted the pieces of the original wax. That's why there less. Kind of dumb he didn't fill it enough.

 

I don't do whale trades, but if I did there's about 5 guys I trade with regularly, and they would be the only guys I would deal with. I still do trades with new guys a few times a year, but I'm slowing down on that as well, these record level of douches just kills it.

 

This is very un swtfyw! We ship what we want not bottle what we want before shipping. There are bad people in this world! If the three people who got fake bottle would please tag me I have an idea to show you there are good people out there too.

 

Hey @RayOhioFelton if you have an Assassin, I'd love to trade for one. Was going to drink it on xmas or wait until my bday, but now it will be a drain pour!

I have Assassin myself, and had one opened up by one of my good friends last night, and have never seen the wax look that bare on a bottle. For sure it's been recapped.

 

Wow. This is nucking futs!!!!!! And then to come back with attitude.

 

Unfortunately that is a little out of my league...but I'm concocting an idea to at least get some good beers to you gentlemen. What happened was pretty shitty. Might not be the level of assassin but it will be real.

I don't know if he has any Assassin or if he wants to trade it, but knowing Ray he has something up his sleeve that has nothing to do with a "trade"
