    I live a few minutes outside Charlotte, NC. There's a rumor in my small town of Cramerton that Deschutes is looking at property here for east coast expansion. I have no way to substantiate this, but the person I heard it from works in planning for my city & is on our board of commissioners. Anyone heard of a possible expansion?

    Cheers!!!!

    I thought I remember reading it was South Carolina that they were considering for their East Coast brewery.

    Wouldn't surprise me with their plans for World Domination (tm).

    All I've heard is the vague "we continually evaluate a bunch of options" but nothing specific. From my experience where I work, scouting real estate is something a company tries to keep quiet, as the price can suddenly jump up if the seller thinks the buyer has extra big pockets or a competitor can snatch up a parcel to protect it from you. Anytime I talked to those guys, I got the impression commercial real estate was a junior high lunch room with all the gossip and speculation about others' motives.

    In other Bend News, I see that they're losing one of their breweries. Old Mill Brew Wërks is closing for good today. I never heard of them.

    I've been to Brewerks before. The beer was fine, but better options in town. Always sad when a business fails.

    I'm sure their brewing equipment will be put to better use somewhere else.

    That sounds great. Cheers to the East Coast, but couldn't we (West Coast) get something in return?

    Other than Bells or Founders I'm not sure anyone else is big enough (or good enough) to consider it. Well, there's Fat Heads, but that's a whole different animal given that the PDX location is essentially a franchise.

    On a related note, these cross country builds are an interesting glimpse at the maturity and saturation of the beer market on the west coast (and Colorado) vs the rest of the country. Three California (and one CO) powerhouse breweries that have built new facilities east of the Mississippi River, and yet we get almost nothing from the Midwest or east coast.

    Sure... I'll give you your choice: Wicked Weed, Olde Hickory or NODA.

    Tough choice - if we take Olde Hickory, you'll be allowed to keep their weird Hickory pub though. If we take Wicked Weed, will you at least agree to keep the crowd of Florida frat boys that comes with it?

    Yeah, bro I heard about this. I just need to get my fishing boat to pull into Oregon.

    I'm sorry but I'm unfamiliar with all of those breweries, I'm still a noob at most of this.

    Yeah, a friend of mine got some Founder's and hot damn that stuff is mighty fine. Wishing we could get their stuff out here. I've heard of Bell's but have never been able to try anything by them.

    I'd take some Troegs, Smuttynose, or Brooklyn in return. It drives me crazy that B.C. can get some Brooklyn stuff, but we can't.

    I would second this as well with the Troeg's and Smuttynose (but its basically only on what others have said). I don't know anything about Brooklyn.

    B.C. = British Columbia? :astonished::confused: Where?

    At the state run beer stores. A friend of mine brings some back sometimes (I love Chocolate Indulgence and the Locals).
