I cannot drink more than 4 ounces without having acid indigestion issues. For those of you who prefer this style over all other's.... Is there another style you prefer as a sessionable beer? In other words, if sours deems your favorite style, what do you drink if you want to drink beer prior to dinner, watching a game, then drink afterwards upon completing dinner?. I have given sours/flanders red/ lambics a fair shot, but although very tasty.... the GI pain is not worth the trade off. What do ya'll prefer?

I can drink lambics all day without fuss but for someone who can't, I'd maybe seek out a few berliner weisse. Slightly lower alcohol and slightly higher pH might be just what you need, still get that nice tart refreshing flavour though.

Thanks! I am thinking that Gose is the way to go?? I only have access to Westbrook Gose here in my vicinity. I should give this beer a try. Or, maybe seek out further as far as what;s available in NYC.

As mentioned, I can crush Berliner or Gose all day.

Westbrook is pretty damn acidic, I would suspect you would get acid indigestion issues there too.

Me? -I'd work on that acid indigestion issue, cure that and sours.flanders red/lambics will be your oyster. Seriously, apple cider vinegar is one of the many home remedies for indigestion, could be a million things tho, you might have to try a couple different tricks to find one that works for you.

Google around, I've found the ACV worked for me.

Take one Zantac 150 before drinking sours. Works for me.

Gose doesn't bother me but I drank all 750mil of Bruery Sans Pagaie a while back and I had indigestion for two days.

I can generally drink sours all day long. Sometimes i might get a touch of heartburn but holy hell that blood orange gose was instant heartburn for me. Not even the regular gose did me that wrong

I think I will pass on these styles. Not enjoyable, and I don't want to take ant acids or any other OTC meds to enjoy a beer. I'll stick to my faves that don't destroy my mind and body. Thanks everyone for the interesting input. Appreciate it...

You need to try some Nexium. Take before you start drinking.

For someone with GERD, I hear ya loud and clear brotha! I love sours, I love coffee, I love candy, I love tomato-based products, etc. (any acidic food/beverages basically), but my stomach sure hates all of it! I'm 25 years old and I have to take Prilosec daily (for over 2 years now), doctor's orders. It does help, but when I overdo it, boy oh boy am I in trouble.

If you are having heartburn from something as simple as enjoying a sour I think you may have slight acid reflux. I would try using over the counter meds first such as Zantac then talk to your doctor.

Pretty sure the side effects to something as simple as Tums aren't going to destroy your body. Tums tend to work well for me...and they're just chalk so if you're meds averse, just eat some chalk before you down your sours. Mmmmmmm.

Oh, and Berliners don't help much in the heartburn area. Still happens with those.

i just rotate between styles, no more than 2 sours in a row, but if you cant drink more than 4 ounces, i suggest taking some tums or something prior to drinking, that always helps me

I enjoyed a 4 pack of Founders RIS with my wife, starting before dinner, during dinner, and finishing the 4-pack, after dinner. She passed out listening to Pink zzzzzzzzzzzzFloyd. I'm having the last Founders RIS, feeding the cats, and cracking open a Murphy's Stout ( wow is this delicious) as my night cap. Thanks for all the suggestions.
