Though Robert Burns day usually leads to drinking scotch, ideally from a quaich, it's not something I can do all day. I'm looking for suggestions of solid brews to raise a glass to Scotland today.
Perhaps any of a multitude of delicious Scottish/Scotch Ales or a nice Wee Heavy, although these are all essentially the same thing. I would be more specific, but I really don't know what is available to you up north.
FFF - Robert the Bruce or Founders - Dirty Bastard. Founders might be easier to come by and is one of my favorites. Or perhaps something from Brewdog.
Id guess a whisky aged Brewdog , Paradox Isle of Arran would be worthy of the great bard. Myself living in Scotland have drank English and US today, I have ate Scottish food though, Scotch pancakes, Scotch pie and just resting my Aberdeen Angus beef just now. I'll have haggis tomorrow as its gonna be cheap!
Belhaven Wee Heavy with my lamb & kidney pie (everything braised in it) and Harviestoun Olde Engine Oil with my whiskey-soaked plum pudding for dessert. Unfortunately, I'm not a big whiskey-drinker, even though The Bard is a relative of our family (Burns Clan.)
I went with a St. Ambroise Scotch Ale. A delightful wee heavy from one of my favorite breweries. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/194/6841/
