You'll need a time machine but it'll be worth the effort to try some glorious Maclay's Oat Malt Stout. Maclay's being the likely originators of this gloriously silky style.

World of Beer has it for 8.99 in Syracuse if your within distance.

Oatmeal and Milk Stouts are my two personal favorite styles. Xocoveza is the best there is, the best there was, and the very damn best there ever will be, as far as milk stouts go

Oatmeal on the other hand...who knows, there is a plethora of excellent ones!

If you can find Wolaver's Oatmeal Stout, try it. You won't be disappointed. That one and NH's The Poet are my two favorites.

I got a Great Divide Big Show mixed 12-pack at Oliver's. Had (3) each of Yeti, Oatmeal Yeti, Hades, and Hercules for about $21... amazing deal considering what they charge for a 4-pack of just Yeti or Hercules.

Where can you find Ipswitch Oatmeal Stout bottles in the Boston metro area? I've never seen it

Modern Times Black House is an awesome oatmeal stout with coffee. And while BA and pricey Velvet Merkin is definitely my favorite.

I've only had one, but it smelled/tasted like soy sauce to me.... and I love big bold stouts. It was the first time I have ever gotten that 'soy' smell/taste. Anyone else have this experience with Ten Fidy? Maybe it's just not for me.

I personally think ten fidy is the best stout. It taste like a decadent chocolate milkshake to me.

I've never got any soy but did try to age a can for over a year and felt that fresh was much better, and I usually prefer big stouts with some age on them. Did you maybe have an older can?

I don't recall it being very old. It was a bit strange and off-putting for my taste... maybe I'll try it again if I can get a fresh can... for science and stuff.

St Ambroise and Wolaver's are good choices to try. Also, even though technically not an oatmeal stout, River Horse Oatmeal Milk Stout is awesome.
