While Alpine's response sucks, dude should have followed the rules, its not like he even had a good excuse. Hope this doesn't become a big deal and cause them to move away from BPT.

I posted this here so I could watch the difference in comments/opinion between the Pacific forum and the rest of the country. So far so good! :grinning:

I don't think anyone supports his response. We all know how pick up Windows work though. Every brewery in So Cal does it. Alesmith, Modern Times, Alpine, Lost Abbey, etc. Some windows are as limited as a few hours, some are a couple months. We all know what happens if you don't pick stuff up within that window.

Exactly , it wasnt a day or two later. Guy completely spaced . I can see if you had an emergency or something but it sounds like the beer wasnt that important to him if he forgot to go pick it up.

Many of the San Diego gang, which don't hang out here any more, think that Pat went way overboard if that indeed was him (and there is no reason to think it wasn't). Sure, there are a few that support it, but a lot of people are just trolling.

On the other hand, many of us are sort of amused/fascinated with all the opinions being offered by people who've never been there, never talked with / dealt with people at Alpine, etc. Have *you* been there, ever? I've seen your name pop up time and again in Alpine threads, but I'm not sure I recall ever seeing a comment about a visit.

dood, you snooze you loose. kern's got a policy about picking up citra bottles by certain date. if you've been sniffing too much glue or smoking too much weed and forgot about the time or spring out then go to bed.
but the comment made by Pat was uncalled for. hope you learned your lesson.

I don't think anyone here is disputing that the dude should've been more aware of the situation and picked up his bottles in time. Personally, I think it'd be hilarious if he'd already had trades lined up for them and got screwed. It's the absolute over-the-top dickishness of the response from Pat, though, that everyone seems to have a problem with even if they're not necessarily surprised by it. Hell, I've never had any personal interactions with him, but just from being on here the past couple years and reading about Pat and his surliness, I'm not terribly surprised by this.

All that said, the comments from people saying they'll never seek out or drink or trade for Alpine's beers again??? Sorry, until it happens to me (and it may very well someday) or until GF screws up all the beers all the time, I'm going to keep drinking those beers. If they really do lose "hundreds" of customers over this (as someone in the other thread suggested), that just means more Alpine for the rest of us. I feel like a dick saying it, but it's true.

The point here isn't about the guy forgetting to pick up his beer. It's about the way Pat handled it. Looks like Alpine is rumored to come to Texas soon. As far as I'm concerned, you guys can keep it. Looks like most of you don't have a big enough problem with it anyway.

Why am I not surprised? Glad to be Alpine-free for 2.5 months. More for you guys.

Damn I was there yesterday for bottles and growler fills. If I had known I would of picked up the bottles for myself. Oh well. But the latest "Alpine" Nelson batch is very tasty. Better than the GF version. That new collab between Mission and Alpine is very good too. I ended up getting a growler of "Don't Act Like Your Not Impressed" along with Pure and 2 Nelsons. Changes are on the way soon with Alpine.

Hey so what all did you get for you Kiwi Herman bottles?
Seeming as you bash Alpine so much, you still have time to get some for trade.

For the record, I am on neither side here, they both messed up.

There were terms and agreements in place that stated if beers were not picked up in the 6 day window (much better than Lost Abbey timeframes), that bottled were surrendered and there was no refund.
Who honestly scored some bottles and totally forgot they did? I for one bought them and planned on the day I knew I can go.
Yes Pat could have answered different.

Not defending Pat, but Alpine was very specific about the "no refund" policy. When the emailer asked "when can I expect a refund?" rather than "sorry - is there anything I can do about this?", he came across as sort of douchey himself (or trying to be funny).

I don't often agree with Catchy_Name, but he hit the nail on the head here. I'm not the least bit surprised by Pat's response, but trying to mitigate it by pointing out that the guy missed the window is a hilariously fallacious response. If you think Pat being a dick is cool, I'm not actually going to fault you for it - just own it for what it is, don't hide behind the idea that they were both in the wrong.

6 days is not a short window really.
So if I get the new Veritas bottles coming out, pick AM Saturday, forget, a few weeks later remember I ordered them, should Lost Abbey allow me to go get them?
