They are pretty new to our shores here in Northern Ireland, but I have been seeing more and more of them outside of Ale merchants stores. I'm very impressed by their work and the artwork is great on the bottles. I saw on another forum today that the artwork is all hand drawn. So all in all they have great style!

Greetings all from snowy Rhode Island! Another bitter cold weekend here, with a snowstorm to boot, but it seems like the 9 or so inches we got is nothing since it just keeps coming...

Thankfully, New England is blessed with some amazing breweries. Today's new beer comes courtesy of Trillium out of Boston. These guys are brewing some amazing hoppy beers, and also some delicious coffee stouts. If you live near Boston, get some, if not, trade for it. You won't be disappointed.

Galaxy Dry Hopped Fort Point Pale Ale is a beautiful juicy, crushable American Pale Ale that just explodes with huge tropical fruit flavor. This was bottled 3 days ago, so extremely fresh. I haven't had Zombie Dust this fresh, but I would say this beer is definitely better:

Shared this with my son and DIL. I am a very big fan of the Flanders (stupid Flanders) red. Not real sour but after about 10 oz my stomach feels it. Very complex. This beer is definitely one of my favorites.

5.9% is now considered "session"? I must be back in 1980 somewhere, when strong was 8% and session was 3%. Oh, looks and sounds like 3Floyds has some solid competition.

There's a lot of better beers than Zombie Dust. Oh, the Northeast is killing the hop game!

Late to party but my new beer is from Nebraska brewing. Weather here in Denver is bi polar as usual light snow now with freezing rain. This beer Pours deep amber but has a gold undertone. Smell is all hops Citra and maybe cascade. Pineapple strong. Taste is smooth and middle of the mouth has a great feeling. 6.9 % abv perfect balance. Need to try more from the little hidden gem.

I gave your post a like but have to completely disagree with you assessment. :grinning:

I think this is a stellar brew...and one of SN better offerings...meaning it's top tier...but...

it is a personal review so I won't carry on...

Tastes vary and there is enough good beer out there to make us all happy...cheers!

With all this warm weather we are having in SoCal, I thought it would be nice to enjoy some IPA/IIPAs and picked this up. I was definitely expecting more but was really surprised at how much IIPA quality this beer lacked.

    Sasquatch Ale
    Six Rivers Brewery
American Double / Imperial IPA / 9.30% ABV
    2.87/5 rDev -13.6% | rAvg: 3.32
    look: 3 | smell: 2.75 | taste: 2.75 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3

22 ounce bomber poured into a Belgian style tulip glass

A: Mahogany, amber, reddish color with an off white creamy head, dissipated fairly quick, some minor lacing, lots of tiny bubbles streaming up the glass side.

A: Lots of caramel, sweet syrupy aromas, not getting any fruity, tropical, piney notes, smells nothing like a IIPA. No alcohol on the nose.

T: Not a lot of bitterness, caramel, sweet syrupy flavors, I am getting zero hop flavors on this beer, nothing but malty sweetness, I think Six Rivers may have bottled the wrong beer in this IIPA label

M: Despite the aroma and taste, this has a creamy mouthfeel, reminds of an amber creamy mouthfeel, but not much else for this beer.

O: Allegedly there are "copious amounts of whole Cascade and Columbus hop," and I didn't' catch them in the beer. The beer is labeled a IIPA but there was nothing about this beer that made me believe I was drinking a IIPA, it's okay, more along the lines of an amber ale, maybe it's old and the hop qualities have died off, but definitely disappointed as I was expecting a hop bomb.

    Greetings All:

Checking in from the great northwest where spring fever is an epidemic. Gorgeous day for mid-February, sunny with temps in the mid 50's. I'll take it!

I'll also take a Ninkasi Vanilla Stout.
    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/14400/51269/

Tough not to grab an IPA or a hefe on a day like today, but this stout is quite good.

I have the brew kettle fired up on the back deck this afternoon. I couldn't resist a day like today. Brewing a batch of my Dryland Wheat Ale in anticipation of full on spring and summer.

    Until next time,

    Happy Trails!

Hi all and late again due to work and snow clearing. Honestly I can't remember it being this cold with all this snow around here. I kind of like the storms, the ones that come and go and the sun comes out and its 35 degrees but this is getting old and I guess there is more to come. The positive is we have gained 19 minutes of daylight since last week and you can almost feel the sun getting warmer. There has been a lot of indoor time which can be good listening to old vinyl and playing some tunes in the basement studio and cooking up some delicious morsels in the kitchen but I am getting spring fever more than ever. On to this week my # 4 on NBS:
Baxter Brewing Pamola Xtra Pale Ale 4.9% ABV.
A -slightly cloudy golden color. Nice tall head that settles to pencil thick ring and retains. Nice "queen Anne's" lacing on the glass.
S- biscuity, bready aroma with a lemon like aroma reminiscent of a pils. Not really getting any aroma that would lead me to believe this is an ale not even any ale yeast character.
T- Bread, lemon pith. Actually some citrus hop character peeks through. Seems more bitter than the 27.5 IBU stated on the can. No esters or taste components that would lean toward an ale. Not bad but overall one dimensional.
M- medium carb, slightly creamy mid palate, very dry finish.
O- I like a few of Baxters offerings, really liked the Bootleg Fireworks DIPA. This was just OK. Can says cold conditioning with select hops and choice barley...Sound familiar ? Honestly if you threw this in a blind test with lagers I would have a hard time picking this as an ale. Its a few notches up from an AAL IMO. Could put a few away as a summer beer but if I'm going that route I'll go with on of the great craft lagers now available. Thanks for listening and have a good week.[IMG] [IMG]

Next new beer for this week:

    Boulevard Brewing Double-Wide IPA.

A: Pours a hazy bright amber color, active two finger head burns off quickly to leave a ring of foam and good lacing.

S: Pretty subdued, that of hops and sweet fruit. A touch of pine in the background.

T: Sweet, bready malt and some good hoppyness, combined with citrus fruit. Smooth throughout, with a dry, bitter finish. Beautifully balanced, but hardly exciting. Decent example of the style, if nothing else.

F: Moderate body, very pleasant carbonation. All is good in this category.

O: Nothing worth punching your mother over, but certainly a good brew. It's problem is it's competition, a lot of it is much better (so many good DIPA's out there these days). This isn't something I would buy again, it just didn't entertain me.

    Cheers!

Good prevening New BSers! Another beautiful sunny day here in the high Arctic of NW PA - blue skies, sun, 0 degrees. Spent the day babysitting with our granddoger - got dog hair all over my keyboard, screen, clothes, etc. Getting everybody acclimatized for next summers vacation when Old Wormy has to stay with us for a week or so.

Anyway, today's excursion into new beer appreciation is a really really good BA imperial stout from Wiseacre brewing in Memphis, TN. @BigRedDog sent it as part of NBS BIF #1 and I inadvertently saved the best for last.

This could become my favorite beer.

Cold day in these parts, and calling for wintry mix for the next few days which means anything from nothing to the worst snow/ice event in the past decade.

Put a chuck roast in the crock pot earlier today, and pairing it tonight with a 2014 Java Eclipse from 50/50. I completely enjoyed the Eljiah Craig version last year, and wanted to try at least one variant this year. If they weren't $30 a pop, I would buy them all every year.

At the end of the day, this is an outstanding beer. The aroma alone might have convinced me to pick up another bottle. Tons of espresso, chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. Very nice dark chocolate and coffee flavors following through.

Lots of other variants on the shelves yet so I might have to get another one. I hear the EC 12 is drinking nice.

Good afternoon NBS'ers! Not very experienced with brandy barrel aged imperial stouts, that said, here goes! Out of the bottle very dark, but it looked a tad reddish in the kitchen light near the top. You and your neighbors will smell the brandy as soon as you open it. When I poured it the brandy smell blended to more a slight caramel-ish apple smell. First sip, let this just sit as long as I could and tried to absorb every last bit of what makes this great. Not as strong boozy as the smell made me think it would be. After a mid size sip, you feel the booze a bit but it fades nicely. This is a gem, again not experience too much with brandy barrel aged beers, but this was an uplifting experience! Most likely will go back give a few more a new home. Cheers!

I thought it was a malty and sweet brew. It's supposed to be best before April 2020, but I didn't want to wait quite that long to drink my bottle (it was brewed in 2010). It's drinking good now, so if you have a bottle or two it wouldn't hurt to try it! I'll be checking everyone else's new beers on here later. Have a good night and week everyone!

I don't mean to rub your noses in it, but it's essentially
spring/summer here... Mid 70's all weekend.
A HARD 55 miles yesterday on my bike yesterday that my legs are still
feeling. Hot damn how I love climbing hills!
Wife asked me this morning if I wanted to buy my new wheels, which
I've been saving for for months...she's a keeper! She drove me to the
bike shop and waited for me while they swapped em out...some Mavic's.
Now home enjoying this for the first time
    [IMG]
Not as dank as I had hoped but still tasty none the less.
Good nose (not as kick you in the teeth hoppy as I had hoped), good flavor (not as palete popping as I had wanted) but for $6 or whatever it was no complaints.
