I may have recently been on a tour at Troegs, and I may have seen a 350ml cork and cage bottle with a Flying Mouflan label that stated that it was bourbon barrel aged.

I haven't heard anything official from Troegs, but this seems like an upcoming release. I'm pretty stoked. I doubt they'd design and produce a label if it wasn't being released.

Has anyone heard any actual news about this? I haven't seen anything from Troegs. I assume it's not necessarily some big secret, or they wouldn't leave a bottle sitting around in an area where tours regularly go.

They've announced it was coming a month or two ago, not sure when though, seems very hush-hush. Have heard that it could be any day now.

I think @orangesol can give you more insight, perhaps? Take this excerpt from his review of the bourbon barrel version on cask: "Looking forward to bottles of this one."

I do recall hearing chatter about bottles, too.

Okay, so it isn't a complete secret. Good to know. I hadn't heard about it previously. Like I said, I saw a filled bottle. They said they usually bottle age the cork and cage bottles for about a month, so we could be seeing it soon.

If you go down another response or two in that thread there's this: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/flying-mouflan-question.88747/#post-3118202 which is from another Troegs employee. Brewery only then it looks like, if they lasted a couple of weeks by doing 4 packs of the smaller bottles I'd be surprised but who knows?

It's definitely coming, but we're still a few weeks out.

@jmdrpi - that is John's account. he is not an active poster.

Does anyone know what the per person limit is going to be on this one? Guessing 1 4pk?

No idea. They haven't even officially announced a release. I'd guess 1-2 four packs, but it probably depends on how much they're releasing.

    From Tröegs Facebook post today:

"It’s been quite some time since our lips savored the Flying Mouflan. Well, the reason is because it’s been resting inside bourbon barrels for the last several months. A sneak peek at a recent Full Moon Firkin event revealed succulent notes of hops dipped in Candi Sugar and rolled in dark cocoa nibs with lush overtones of vanilla, tangy raisin and decadent chocolate. While it seems like a long wait, believe us… we’re just as anxious as anyone to bask in the warmth of this mature, bourbon-soaked version of our barleywine. You can’t rush what goes on inside the wood. Release info coming soon."

Touche.... I work near the brewery, so either way I'm ready to skip out to grab it. That being said, I hope at most it's just a few weeks. I'd love to include a bottle in a BIF I'm doing.

I hope Troegs gives us more time to prepare than Voodoo did.

I don't know how many barrels they filled compared to the BA Troegenator, but that was a limit of 2 x 750mL bottles per person.

I seem to recall them giving a few days notice on the release date, and it lasted almost three days.

They said this one will be 375ml 4 packs. I was mentally preparing myself for limit one 4 pack per.

Depends on whether they want to reward locals or not.

And in Voodoo's defense, there are still allotments left a week later, so if you really wanted to drive there, you had plenty of time.

Totally understood. Just thinking about it from my own (selfish) perspective. Voodoo is a lot closer to me than Troegs. If I really wanted, I could have jumped in the car last weekend and trekked up to Voodoo but Troegs is more like a day trip.
