So, I am heading to Las Vegas April 14-16, but I have no intention to gamble, watch a show or drool over a semi-pro contortionist at the Spearmint Rhino...though I have done that before and it was nice. But I digress, I am going to be in town for a few nights for work and I always try to do my homework on where to get the best selection of beer or perhaps catch a local brewery event or two. When drudging through the bowels of the BA forums discussions on Vegas, I am struggling to find any good local insight on where to go and what local beer I should be attempting to get my hands on. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Aces and Ales is the place to be. Its off strip so prices are lower and great selection check their website for whats on draft. It is also about a block away from Tenya Creek which has better than average not great beer but a really nice place to drink a beer. Both places have out door patios and in April you will want to sit outside. If you search google you will see the Freaking Frog which was an awsome but they went out of business. The Pub at Monte Carlo is the best option on the strip. I really think a fun time is the Hofbrau House not alot of beer choices but what they sell is very fresh and tasty. We don't really have bottle shops but Total Wine will have the best selection of beer and their website is current.

Hope you enjoy your trip here and if you need additional info please feel free to message me. I have lived in Vegas 10 years.

I was there in November and ran into the same problem. Your best bet is to go to "yard house" on the strip. Huge draft selection, with some really quality stuff. Most places will have sculpin on draft. As far as local, teneya creek brewed some pretty good beers. Big Dog was another decent local brewery. Neither will blow you away, but are your best local options.

As said above, Aces and ales is a great spot with good food and the newer one on Tenya Creek is next to Tenya Creek brewery with solid beer. Big dogs tavern and Chicago brewery are nice too with some good eats. Cheers enjoy Las Vegas.

To buy beer I found that White Cross Market and Khourys are best. Can't speak to any brew pubs

I don't have a lot to add except that the last time I went to Vegas (back in 2011, I think), I stayed at Main Street Station near Freemont St. they have a perfectly acceptable brewery inside the hotel.

Any idea what a cab from the strip (say Wynnn/Encore) would cost? Every time I'm in Vegas I'm tempted by this place but as you mention, it's off strip... kind of a hike. Will be out there around the same time as OP and am thinking about it again

I don't know but taxis are pretty cheap and its not as far as you think to go to Aces and Ales about a 15 - 20 minute drive from the strip. I usually take an a town car and its $65 for 2 hours. Aces and Ales usually has a strong lineup and is not really croweded. Worth the cab fare and you could walk to Tenya Creek (google maps but I would be surprised if more than a 1/4 mile away). Its right off the freeway so easy to get to. Food is also pretty good for bar food. Just make sure you go to the Aces and Ale on Tenya as that one has more taps and easier to find.

If you need more info on Vegas please let me know.

Wynn/Encore to Aces & Ales Tenaya is going to run upwards of $40+ each way, but they definitely have the best list in town. Some closer on the Strip options are still: Public House (Venetian), any Yard House (Linq, Town Square, etc.), or Atomic on Fremont.

Hmm, $80 round trip is a little steep. Would have to split it to make it worthwhile. Last year stayed at Palazzo and hit PH next door at Venetian. Definitely a solid beer list, though the vibe was... eh.

First off, Yard House is not even close to one of your best local options, so don't listen to the uninformed person who said that.

Aces And Ales is a good suggestion that has been brought up a few times, as is Khoury's

Here are a couple other spots that tend to have great brews at the bar:
    Atomic Liquors
    High Scores Bar Arcade

We're actually getting to have a decent number of microbreweries throughout the valley:
    Chicago Brewing Company
Tenaya Creek (might be a great spot, since it's right next to one of the Aces and Ales locations)
Hop Nuts Brewing (just opened a couple weeks ago near downtown)
    Banger Brewing (on Fremont St.)
    Bad Beat Brewing
CraftHaus Brewing (Bad Beat and CraftHaus are practically next door neighbors in Henderson, and right near the Las Vegas Distillery as well)
Big Dog Brewing (can be pretty solid if you catch the right special releases, their regular beers are pretty standard)
Sin City Brewing (average microbrews, but they have several locations on the strip)

A handful of casinos have their own breweries, none of which are amazing, but all are decent.

I maintain that if you are concerned with distance, Yard House has recently featured BCBS, Fresh Squeezed, Stone Green Tea IPA, Petrus Aged Pale, etc. And i hate the Yard House brand, but killer brews none the less.

All the others mentioned are 10+ miles away, with the exception of Hop Nuts and Atomic at a mere 6 miles. Bring something we can't get and lets toast!

Considering this same post pops up weekly and I have like a 2 page write-up I've posted dozens of times I find that hard to believe.

They really need to make your write-up (with a few minor updates) a permanent sticky in this forum. It's amazing how often the "where do I go in Vegas" question gets rehashed.

People, just two seconds to type in the word "Vegas" in the search box for the Mountain forum, or go to the Places section of this site. Vegas has it's own section there. Both methods will lead you to all the info on Vegas you'll ever need.
