I know most of what voodoo has put out in their barrel room collection has been legendary and pretty rare since they don't put many allotments out. Less than 300? I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are one this years release coming out March 14th. Sounds like some very brave and innovative attempts on unique styles.

    From their facebook page:
"We are very pleased to announce today that we have scheduled our third Barrel Room Collection Release for Saturday March 14, 2015. Curt has been working hard since the last release to bring you 4 brand new beers to add to our collection, all aged 14+ months in the barrel. They are as follows:

Old Jive Turkey- 10% ABV - 22oz, $20- Limit 2- A traditional Old Ale aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrels.

Bourmuda Triangle IPA- 10.1% ABV - 22oz $21- Limit 2- Imperial West Coast-style IPA 50% aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrels, 25% in Caribbean Rum Barrels, 25% in Extra Anejo Tequila Barrels. Blended once removed from the barrels and double dry hopped with Apollo, Galaxy and Simcoe. Make no mistake about it, this is an IPA through and through, not just a hopped up barleywine. We're working our hardest to bottle this as close to the release as humanly possible, so please, DO NOT AGE- DRINK FRESH!!

Taco Flavored Kisses- 11.2% ABV - 22oz $20- Limit 2- Wheatwine brewed with organic blue weber agave nectar and aged in Extra Anejo Tequila Barrels.

Blackbeard's Delight- 12% ABV- 22oz $21- Limit 2- Imperial Brown Ale brewed with blackstrap molasses and aged in Caribbean Rum Barrels with locally roasted coffee, cocoa nibs, and Madagascar vanilla beans.

Please read the following very carefully:

As we have said all along, we will sell the beer once it is ready. This presents a problem as the weather is still very cold and highly unpredictable in Meadville in March as we saw in 2013. For this reason, we will be conducting this release differently than we have in the past. Starting today, February 12 at 3pm, we will begin taking sign ups at the MEADVILLE PUB ONLY DURING NORMAL PUB BUSINESS HOURS ONLY. NO EXCEPTIONS. We have a total of 260 allotments available, all bottles will be sold as a full 8 bottle set only at $164 only. We will only take as many sign ups as we have allotments, there will not be a waiting list of any sort."

Haven't seen much discussion and curious what other BA members think about it?

    Cheers!

I was a little disappointed by the lack of a stout or barleywine, but I can appreciate their desire to do something really innovative. I split an allotment with a buddy and will be keeping two and trading two of my four bottles.

They posted this pic yesterday on their Facebook account.

They allowed a preview of Ole Jive Turkey and there's one review for it which is glowing.

Its amazing...there, I said it again.

To the OP, in my opinion, there is nothing brazen or daring about this release. I think the brewer of Voodoo is gifted with an ability to create amazing beers regardless of what the current trend/hype/hysteria is. I appreciate them doing what they want and trying something new instead of the expected or anticipated return of their top ranked/coveted BA stouts. Dont get me wrong...I miss black magick dearly as its one of my favorite beers. However, having drank more than a fair share of their offerings I can safely say they are one of the few breweries I will blindly give my money to and know that whatever I get in return will be of top quality. Actually there are few, if any, other breweries I can say that about.

Glad to hear. That's one of the bottles that I'm keeping and I can't wait to try it.

While I've never had anything from voodoo, and probably won't into the forseeable future (due to lack of access), I must say that the Bourmuda Triangle, Taco Flavored Kisses, and Blackbeards Delight sound amazing. Cheers to the BA's that are lucky enough to get some.

I thought this was gonna be a Rogue Voodoo donut barrel aged lineup. I'm glad I was wrong.

It just sucks that you had to buy 2 bottles of each. Yes you can split with a friend, just a pain finding someone. The sign up window was so last minute too. Just bitter I guess because I definitely would've been there with more notice
