Sounds like you should find a place that's sells single 12oz bottles. That's the least commitment if you don't like the beer. I'd hate to have paid 10 or 15 bucks for a big bottle of disappointment.

Oh there have been people in prior threads about the bomber size bottle who have said they like the format for one or more of the reasons you mention in your poll. While some on this site hate them, and refuse to buy them they are a minortiy group and there are lots of people out there who will buy them over a six pack. In other words, many of the folks who vote with their money buy bombers regularly, often in preference to buying a six pack. (But a lot of them won't chime in here since they are not on BA and may not even know it exists. :-) )

Although some smaller breweries may have pretty much had to start off bottling with the bomber size bottles for a variety of economic reasons, there are some larger, more successful breweries that have actually started using them for some of their beers that previously only came in six packs or on tap. Why? Because those breweries are responding to consumer demand. The retailers who sell their beers want bombers because many of their customers are in lust with variety. A bomber takes up less shelf space than a six pack and so more different beers can be offered in the same amount of space. When bombers quit moving off the shelf so fast you'll see fewer of them on the shelves.

I like bombers, no problem at all. For some breweries, bombers are some of there best beers.

    Cheers!

I don't care... but when I'm tasting with friends (which I do fairly regularly in a group of 3-5 of us when I'm in the states), bombers are nice because everyone can get a little extra of everything

Cost benefit analysis pending, I buy what I can get in whatever format I can get if it is something I like.

    This.

Definitely. Great to share. And I can only find certain beers in bomber format. A little cheaper instead of $20 for 22 oz and I'd buy much more often.

    Yeah.

A lot of beers I really want to try are in bombers only. So I don't have much choice. And I would rather have 1 bottle then be stuck with a 6 pack of shitty beer.

I've said it before. I love bombers! The large format bottles look great displaying on shelves in my beer area. They also tend to be the more limited and/or special beers.

I actually love bombers, but I only get them if there's no smaller formats. I just wish they were a bit cheaper or comparable in price/oz to six packs.

Im not a fan of them. I use them for my home brew but that only because its a pain to fill 50 12oz bottles.

Bottle vs. bomber? See this thread

I went with "other," because none of the choices accurately characterized my feelings.

I like bombers. I like bottles. I like cans. I like beer...

Some beers seem better suited to bombers, some to smaller bottles or cans. I enjoy the bomber aesthetic (two pours), but I also get that they are not usually cost-friendly, but I also don't wrestle with dollar per ounce/abv ratios (see this thread and this thread for people who do :grinning:).

I chose "Other" because I don't really have a preferred format in general but will keep buying them as a good chunk of beer in my fridge and cellar are bombers (on a sidenote I do like having a bigger label to look at ). I have no problem finishing them in a single sitting the same way I would drink a 12oz bottle/can or 16oz can. Hell, it's no issue drinking a quart of Sucks so a bomber isn't a 2nd thought. A bomber also fits beautifully in my 33oz brandy snifter.

They're nice if you're sharing with others. Gives an extra few pours

Bombers are a perfect serving size for me. I like to choose new beers, and bombers allow me to try different ones usually of a breweries special releases.

I'll say I'm hesitant to purchase bombers.

My store allows a per bottle purchase of anything they stock so that for me is the safe route.

I suppose if a variety of beer I already know I love came in bomber format I might just go that route because it would be the perfect serving size to tell the wife " I only had one babe".

I love bombers. I feel like I enjoy them more for some reason. There just seems to be something special about opening a bomber. It's more than a glass so more beer to enjoy.

Pros: More variety at the store and they make homebrew bottling days much easier.
Cons: More cost per oz. and can make for some rough nights of comparing high ABV beers.

I don't hate them and I don't love them. If the store has 4 or 6 packs and bombers, I won't buy a bomber. But I can't speak too negatively about them because those two pros are big ones in my book.
