I was just thinking how lucky we are in Indiana to have FFF, 18th street, Sun King, Upland, and a million other breweries popping up every day. Just wondering about other states? I'm planning a vacation and I gotta factor in beer.

While I don't think Texas would be in the top ten just yet, (maybe top 20?) we have made HUGE strides in the right direction over the last 5-10 years. I'm really looking forward to Texas being in the top 5 of good beer states.

Edit: I actually give a good amount of credit to our macro brewery : Shiner. Which should take the title National Beer of Texas. Because that Lone Star Beer is crap.

I think Montana has good beer but thing is you rarely see it out of the state.

I'm a homer - but I can make a strong case for North Carolina: Olde Hickory, Wicked Weed, Foothills, Trophy, Fonta Flora, NoDa... on and on - Asheville itself is beer heaven, Charlotte is exploding. Lot's of places in both those cities where you can simply walk from brewery to brewery.

If beer is your priority I would suggest a visit to Oregon, particularly Portland and Bend.

    Cheers!

Pretty much what it always boils down to around here.

California. Hell, Sonoma County alone has better breweries than some states do: Russian River, Lagunitas, Bear Republic. Heading south in the state you've got Firestone Walker, Stone, Green Flash and The Bruery. (And don't forget Sierra Nevada and the grand-daddy of them all: Anchor). I don't think any other state can top California.

I love the fact that FINALLY I can be a part of the growing movement of breweries in Wyoming. I love this state, and it is great to see some great beers here!

Comparing States to each other makes as much sense as comparing a raisin to a watermelon.
