    Holy shit.....this sounds great!

Got this in an Anchor "Brewsletter email" today....sounds freakin' awesome!!

Anchor Liberty Ale is one of my all time favorite beers; 40 years old this year.....this sounds amazing!!

Loved the Flying Cloud Export Stout!

What’s next? Hitting shelves early summer is one you're already familiar with...sort of. Take Liberty Ale®, Americas first modern IPA since 1975, double the Cascade hops and double the IBU's. Then, use your imagination to throw in a lot of juicy tropical fruit aromas and flavors (think guava, sweet orange, melon) and voila it’s Double Liberty™ IPA! Details on the beer, the release date and where to find it coming shortly.

Sign me up for this. Big fan of Liberty. Would drink it more but difficult to find reasonably fresh around here.

Their first plunge into "big" beer? Sounds pretty awesome.

This! Today's market is flooded with new hop varieties (while is awesome in its own right), it's nice to go back in time and have a brew with an old school vibe. I have a belief this brew is going to be a staple in my fridge for its time of availability.

Well, they do brew Old Foghorn at 8-10% abv  - which certainly had the highest alcohol content of any US beer at the time of release (when it was often listed at 8.75% abv).

Funny, too, because unlike most of the new Anchor management's dubious "first" claims, Old Foghorn does appear to have been the first US beer labeled as a "Barley Wine/Barleywine", although some US beers had been casually referred to as a "barley wine" in ads in the pre-Pro era.

Hmm, this is an interesting choice by Anchor.

While the rest of the industry is dropping their "older" IPA recipes in favor of newer hop varietals (Stone and Victory abandoning Ruination and Hop Wallop for example), Anchor is choosing to make their first double out of one of their originals.

Yep Double Liberty confirmed. Argonaut Flying Cloud Export Stout was a solid start to the Collection.

Given my affinity for Liberty, this is an auto-purchase... but damn it, Flying Cloud was a no-show around here.

Since Liberty is an IPA that people think of as an APA (it's out of step), will Double Liberty be a DIPA that people think of as an IPA? Whatever.

It doesn't say anything about doubling the abv. Probably just a more aggressive version of liberty ale

    8.2% ABV?

    YES please!

I hope our Anchor distributor here in NE Ohio picks this up, they did not bring in the Flying Cloud Export Stout; I got mine while traveling on the east coast.....

I was mentioning Liberty's identity crisis (it doesn't really have one) and when I read the marketing blurb I thought, "They're really pushing the Double for the IPA crowd." The label really confirms this. This beer feels like it's got the new marketing department all over it. Back to that identity crisis, the label says IPA but the ABV is DIPA territory. Such dilemmas for the site member that enters this beer into the system... I kid, I kid.

Looks like this new beer was added by Jeff Hartley in early March.....as a DIPA

Agreed it appears that the Anchor marketing folks are stepping up their game of late....canned offerings, and new beers coming out pretty regularly, in support of their stellar line up....Anchor will always be one of my all time favorite breweries, from a historical standpoint, as well as the great beers they have been producing for many many years now! Plus, I am a sailor, and it's "Anchor"....kind of a no-brainer there!
