I love north coast old stock ale. What other really great, widely accessible old ales should I be drinking?

Good luck spending the next few years trying to get your palate to discern an Old Ale from an English Barleywine. I still haven't been successful.

A prize for the first person to point out that Founders Curmudgeon is not actually called "Old Curmudgeon."

Some Old Ales taste like American Barleywines and others like English. Honestly, I don't know the difference either.

If you can find Bell's Third Coast Old Ale, grab a sixer. Then drink some fresh and age some.

St Peter“s Winter Ale is a very nice Old Ale, very affordable and quite common here in Mexico.

Shame you're in NV, because Smuttynose Really Old Brown Dog is freakin' excellent.

Michael Jackson had North Coast Old Stock listed as an example of barleywine, not old ale as it is categorized on BA.
Try some of the more common lower ABV old ales (Theakston's Old Peculiar, Olde Suffolk)...that may cut down on some of the boozy and other notes associated more on the barleywine side. I find there are usually old hop and oxidation flavors in old ales not particularly present in barelywines. Some of the American versions have monster ABVs over 10% which in my opinion makes them barleywines (I think the style guidelines list Old Ale as 6-9%). When I think of one of those awesome Thomas Hardy's Ales (gone) or Fuller's Vintage Ale, I think they could call themselves either. Like most categories, there is certainly some overlap.

I'll see your Adam, and raise you: Adam from the Wood.

Also, Billy The Mountain from Upright Brewing is a fav of mine as well.

I love Old Ales, but Hibernation finishes with a garlicky/shallot punch that I'm not a fan of. Might be summit hops, which I am not a fan of. It's not a bad beer at all, I just care for the oniony hops.

Adam's not really an old ale, it's an Adambier, an arcane German style. They just call it an "old world ale" on the label.

Thanks. I'm going to stick with Adam. Because it's good and similar to other old ales the OP would also enjoy.

No doubt it's good, it's one of my favorite beers. Old ales aren't going to have the smokiness that Adam does, though, so its similarity is debatable.

OP might have a tough time landing that one.
I never picked up a particular smokiness in Adam, at least nothing akin to a rauchbier. IIRC the text on the label says "a hearty Old World ale," so I don't think it's necessarily claiming to be an old ale. I'd still argue it's closer to that style than anything else listed on BA.
