    For 2015 R&D release info/talk

    2015 R&D announcement!

In order to allow as many people as possible to enjoy Dan's Limited Release brews we will change things up a bit. This year we will have four release events. Each event features a different beer from the Wild Fruit Cave. The first is the Wild Bitter!

Wild Bitter will release on Thursday May 7, Friday May 8, and Saturday May 9. Two bottle per person limit. 10.00 a bottle includes tax and cash is appreciated but not necessary. Sales will begin no later than 10:00 AM.

The remaining R and D beer styles will remain our secret for now but the release dates are..
June 11,12, 13 (Thurs, Fri, Sat)
    Aug 6, 7, 8 (Thurs, Fri, Sat)
    October 8,9,10 (Thur, Fri, Sat)

Each release will be one single R&D beer. If you want all four of the 2015 R&D beers you will need to attend all four releases. .

Aww. I liked it when all things New Glarus (and even a bit of Wisconsin!) was in one thread. But well, it makes a lot of sense to do this. Looking forward to the additional discussion..

I'll start off- anyone else try Wild Bitter during MCBW yet?

Twice. you will smell the citrus, you will taste the citrus, you will taste the tart tang, you will taste some wood, and experience the bitter sensation in the swallow. Its still hard to believe this is 10%abv, very astringent ,all of us loved the taste, some loved the aftertaste more then others. Caution, this baby will backdoor you with its sneaky potency

Curious if this is worth a 3 hour trip on Saturday morning (and should I be concerned about lines/availability if I get there around 10-11). I have some friends in town who might be interested in the trip just to check out the place, moreso than the release. Not sure if they would be game to leave at 7am though, ha.

Nobody knows. Before last year these releases were pretty low key and the bottles lasted a while. But then because of Sour Fruit (VSB), the wild peach release was crazy, and you pretty much had to be there early. But now we have a non fruit sour, which theoretically should be less valuable. And judging by the number of posts on this forum, there is about 5% of the amount of interest. But also there is no Sunday release. We also don't know the bottle count. VSB was 1400, VSP was 4500. I would think you should be fine, but then again if I'm making a 6 hr round trip I don't like to take chances so I would make sure to get there way too early.

Deb Carey said the bottle count is "about the same" as the Wild Peach release.

I'm waiting to see what Thursday is like, but I plan on being there on Friday around 9am from Milwaukee.

I'm shooting for 10AM tomorrow as I'm just fitting the stop into my work trip for the day. If 10AM on a Thursday isn't early enough for a wild IIPA, then I think the New Glarus R&D beers aren't for me.

I'll be there around the same time, and I agree with your statement completely.

Anybody in the MKE/Racine/Kenosha area want a tagalong, or need a ride for tomorrow? I can pay in gas and beer. I just moved here from NC, so this would be my first trip to NG.

I'll be surprised if Wild Bitter's allotment is all gone before the end of day tomorrow. I may take a 2 hour lunch tomorrow and drive over to the brewery.

planning on leaving at 6am from the city for a 9am arrival. i did that last year and i was roughly number 400 in line. if you got there at about 11am , then, you were good as that was when the last of the number/tickets were given out. (even though folks got in line a second time)

Screw it, I think I'm going to try to head up on Thursday as well. I figure I can get back into Milwaukee for work at 2pm fairly easily.

For those that bottle share, please clean up. We drinkers look terrible not cleaning up for each other. Given last year it was literally only a handful. Just walk to the front and dump of your garbage.

Also for those going. Chance of rain. Brings bags and avoid the cartons NG will provide. Unless you want to take pictures of your beer being soaked up to the asphalt.

Will other new Glarus bottles be available for purchase? Pretty sure I should be there around 9 with a sour or two to share.

Probably, but you can find new glarus pretty much anywhere in WI, and slightly cheaper. The brewery doesn't like to undercut retailers.
