Happy NBS! My favorite day of the week! :grinning:

Today I am enjoying an incredible beer that one of my IP traders gave to me while we were at New Glarus Brewery on Thursday morning. It is my first beer from Trillium and it left me quite impressed, see below.

A - Very hazy pale yellow color that looks like it could be pure OJ. Brilliant white 2 finger head that fades very slowly and leaves a thin cap for the session. Terrific webbed lacing splattered around the glass.

S - Oh my! The aroma is so juicy! The hops used in this have high citrus aroma like a glass of orange and grapefruit juice, with hints of mango and guava. There is also a bitter element to it.

F - Like citrus and tropical hopped APAs? This will be one of your all time favorites! Makes me think if Zombie Dust and Grapefruit Sculpin had a love child. I can't even describe all the citrus and tropical flavors along with the medium bitterness.

M - Superb feel and perfect carbonation with a juicy, yet dry finish.

O - What else do I say? This beer is amazing!

I agree @cjgiant . I think there is a perception that this style should not have any malt character and actually it does. Ithaca's does and I too appreciate the real tartness.

I had a Lost Nation Gose yesterday (similar style, imo) and was very pleasantly surprised with the bready/malty character. That really does do wonders to a beer like that- definitely the best example I've had yet.

    Good late morning friends,
We had our 8 and 5 year old grandsons from late Friday until this morning. I have real admiration of their energy and could use a bit extra right now. They are good boys, very smart, but together they are like a continual squall of fidgets, food, and feistiness. The house is quiet now.
We took a long walk around the lake- needed it- and every dog had it's fool out, including us. Nice cool Summer day and very beautiful. Martha spotted this moth laying low acting like a leaf...about 5 inches of wing span.
Once again, from @WesMantooth, today's beer is Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus Bleeding Buckeye. Called an ESB, but this is a red/amber ale, dark red with a nice frothy lingering head. Toasty, with rich malt, this is a smooth and easy drinking ale that would be delightful with a range of foods....from pizza to stews and beyond. A nicely balanced red ale that at 5.7% allows room for a few. Enjoyable, and I would buy it on occasion if readily available. Thanks again @WesMantooth.
I first saw Poco at The Atlanta Pop Festival in Byron, Georgia in 1970. These guys were great and thrilled the huge throngs with soaring harmonies and great musicianship. I think that Poco has always been under-appreciated. I love this song.

My morning's new beer session hereby concludes after this, from War Flag, in Brooklyn, NY...

War Flag was added back in November, 2014 with their American Pilsener. This beer was added last month.

Leaner and bitterer  than the Citra Session. The citrus was there, but more akin to dry grapefruit pith, with the softer orangey impressions deeper in the malt. The malt character reminded me of water crackers and dry biscuit... Very impressed with this. Bright, full of flavor, clean and fresh-tasting.

Regarding the brewing and such, the bottle says...
Alrighty, that does it for me today, NBS - gonna be pulling from a more familiar pool of beers from here on out...

Here's to new beer in your glass - cheers...

Good day NBS friends! It was a beautiful and moody start to the day along the southern shore. I'm recovering from yesterday's family reunion, morning run and dog walk, on the patio with this Crowler courtesy of @JNForsyth in the NBS/BIF #2. Filling the matching mug Jeremy included with Al's of Hampden/Pizza Boy Sunny Side Up.

Pours a dark brown, nearly black liquid with generous mocha colored foam. The aroma is fresh brewed coffee and chocolate cake. The flavor is pure heaven in the form of iced espresso and bakers chocolate with a hint of vanilla in the finish. Mouthfeel is a tad thin for such a decadent beer, but at this point, who cares?

In one word? WOW! I love coffee stouts, and this has to be included in the conversation with the best. It's like drinking espresso chocolate cake! I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to try it and will welcome the chance to try again. Another pour for me and I'm going to save some for my bro to sample a bit later.

Well hello there, NBS-ers! Today may very well mark the first time I post more than one new brew here, we shall see. It's been a fine Sunday so far, I was able to somewhat sleep in & even sneak in a brew before the GF woke up (shhhh...) :-)
As always, it's been a real treat reading the new beer reviews here today & I'm ready to share my 1st new brew of the day with you all:
    Lagunitas Imperial Pils
    [IMG]

    Whew...

    First, some BA stuff:

    A: 4, S: 4.25, T: 4, M: 3.75, O: 4 - BA says: 4.04

    My official review:

22oz bomber into a Weizen glass.

A: Pours a vibrant, clear straw...edging toward gold. 3/4" fizzy white head that actually lingers nicely. Retention is really quite impressive, as is lacing. A good-looking brew.

S: What grabs my attention is sweetish, grainy malt - just what I like to discover on the nose for a Pils. There's an almost not-subtle hop character hiding under the malt to provide a bitter counterpoint. In addition, very mild fruit flavors present themselves after a mighty whiff - melon, perhaps muted apricot. At this point I'm very eager to take a sip.

T: Comes on with an airy, caramel-like sweetness bolstered by a nice doughy note. Again, just what I'm hoping for. The mid palate is nuanced by a somewhat aggressive hop character, no real language here, just brute force, more intense than what I'm used to - although this is only my second tangle with an Imperial Pils. Approaching the finish, I detect traces of the melon that I found in the nose, along with an almost rye-like spiciness...interesting. The finish itself is off-sweet with evenly-balanced notes of cracker & caramel.

M: Fairly fitting for the style. Carb is somewhat high & married to a reasonably crisp, refreshing body. It's pretty soapy with just a touch more stickiness than I would like.

O: The only other brew that I have to compare this to (stylistically) is Dogfish Head Beer Thousand & I honestly feel that this is a more nuanced, balanced take on the style. I'm definitely a Pils fan & this brew has taken the characteristics that I really enjoy from the style & bolstered them in a logical, fitting way.

So, I can safely say that this brew was a reasonable success! What I ultimately like about it is that despite all the beefed-up hop & overall flavor components, it never truly departs from it's Pilsener roots.
I've tasted a number of hopped up/modified Pils recently that have essentially forgotten their roots (Epic Hop Syndrome being the worst offender) so it was really quite nice to imbibe a massive Pils that still reads like a Pils.

As today is my one-day weekend, I fully intend to get as much BA time in as is possible, so I'll hopefully be back in a bit with yet another new (to me) brew. :-)

'Til then, I wish you all good beer & good cheer!

    New Berliner Weiss Sunday,

    Greetings NBSer's,
SCMN is continuing an absolutely gorgeous summer. Another great day on tap. Low 80's, sunny and tolerable humidity. These once every decade or so good summers somehow make it worth the very long and dragged out winters...I guess.

A very nice Berliner with special qualities from lager yeast and some German hops. Good for the summer.

I think I'll be back later with one of the last 2 beers that @beertunes generously provided via NBS BIF#2.

Good day my NBS friends. Its another gorgeous day here in north Jersey so its def a day to ride. But - before I head out I wanted to pass along my thoughts on Sixpoint brewings 4 Beans. Bottom line is - if you can find some do yourself a big favor and pick some up. I can't say enough about this brew. Pours dark but drinks light. Amazing coffee flavor followed by a touch of vanilla. Now for today, as I said I'm taking the Harley out on this fine day but I will have a new review later as one of our stops will be Angry Eriks brewery. Should be a good day. Cheers

Apparently, great PA BAs think alike. I'd never heard of Pizza Boy before @LehighAce06 included one of those as part of the same BIF, but they're definitely on my radar now.

Greetings NBSers! It's been a while since I have contributed to the thread and I'm hoping to get in three new brews thanks to @Shroud0fdoom! Starting off with one of the beers I have been waiting to try for a long, long time!
This brew is just as fantastic as the label! PseudoSue is a single hop citra APA which showcases the versatility of the citra hop. Huge citrus notes of juicy fruits, mango, peach, grapefruit and some subtle pine. The flavors live up to the aroma. Juicy hop juice following the nose, light bready notes, nice balanced grapefruit like bitterness, medium bodied, and perfect carbonation. I would buy this beer by the casefull if I had regular access to it! Thank you @Shroud0fdoom! Your the man!

Hello NBS crew, long time lurker but limited participant so far. That is going to change as I have accumulated about 25-30 bombers and have decided that each Sunday from now through the end of the NFL season (Which Starts tonight with my beloved Vikings playing in Hall Of Fame Game) I will be enjoying one and sharing my thoughts with you all.

To kick things off....Its Big Lushious from Founders Brewing. I love when a beer tastes as advertised and this one fits the bill. Looks black and sexy with dark chocolate and raspberry all day long. This would make one terrific dessert beer. I am noticing as it warms that the raspberry is starting to dominate with its sweetness. I think for pour number 2, I will be chilling it down a bit more as at colder temps the sweetness takes the background to the dark chocolate goodness.

Looking forward to every Sunday from now til February! Go Vikes! Cheers!

After a long crazy week, I decided it was time to crack open a special one for this week's NBS - Central Waters Seventeen. Needless to say, I'm a big fan of CW's barrel aging program.

This one is a thing of beauty hitting all of the notes I like in a BA stout. Tons of complexity to the aroma and flavor - rich chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. Subtle hints of oak, coconut, raisins, espresso, and tobacco. This is a wonderful sipper, and one of my top five stouts of all time. Highly recommended.

Big thanks to @egrace84 for sending this my way!

Happy New Beer Sunday BAs from the great state of Maryland. As I have eagerly awaited the arrival of Fall and Winter during these Summer months I have been busily stocking some very nice big "winter beers". A lot of changes have been taking place for me this summer and they have all been positive. I have two beers I will try this Sunday I haven't experienced before, the first being...

...Weyerbacher Brewing Co. - 20th Anniversary Ale

Poured into a grand snifter glass at 50°F

This beer pours a cloudy, deep Ruby-Brownish color when held up to artificial light with a thin off-white head with no lacing and the nose is all malty sweet fruits (raisins or dates) followed by breads then a subtle waft of booziness. The booze fades as the beer warms.

Raisins and dates are the dominating flavors, a little bready with just a hint of booze in the finish and a
    heavy and slightly over-carbonated mouthfeel.

Overall I love this style but finished this particular offering from Weyerbacher left wanting. While all the characteristics of a Belgian Strong Dark Ale are there, the biting, palate-numbing carbonation that lingered really detracted from those characteristics and made for a less-than pleasant drinking experience. That being said, this is extremely fresh and may need 6-12 months for development, I plan to revisit it by that time. Official Review

New Beer on Sunday Wordplay on Duran Duran's New Moon on Monday (one of my childhood favorites).
