Your Favorite Saisons

Brewery Vivant Zaison is very good and very quenching for 9%.

 

You can only get it on tap in NJ but Magnify Brewing's Search Saison is outstanding.

 

I double that for the Funkwerks saison... actually all of their saisons are fantastic! Tropic King is great as well!

 

The regular Saison is the only one I've had I will have to try tropic king. I also want to try their oud bruin.

 

To Øl - Fuck Art - The Heathens Are Coming

This is probably my favorite Saison that I go for when I don't want a lot of funk. Crisp, refreshing, slightly sweet, beautifully balanced.

In case you are not familiar:
To Øl is the brewery.
"Fuck Art" is just the name of the series.

 

i love all of what logsdon makes but honestly i think their new szech 'n brett (session brett) is my favorite year round offering. gotta try it if you can!

 

If you don't like Goose Island Sofie there might be something wrong with you.

 

i've only had 4 different Saisons and i've been hit or miss on them. my favorite so far is local, River Horse Farmhouse Saison.

Wow- almost exactly what I was about to post. Ditto that!

 

The best beer I had this year was a 3+ year old Sofie I found on the Total Wine singles shelf- no joke. Maybe I should ask if they have some more in the back; I hate to be a lousy jerk of a customer, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do .

 

Brother Soigne, Dupont, Gillian, & Love Buzz are my favorite period. For easy/cheap, Hennepin is my favorite. Even though Dupont isn't really expensive or hard to get.

 

I whole-heartedly enjoyed Tank 7. Every saison I've had from Jester King (Sin Fontera, Le Petit Price, Hibernal Dichotomous..) has been awesome, as well.

 

While I have many favorite saisons, Logsdon and DuPont included, the Hilliards Saison in can is an extremely wonderful offering, especially for a US brewer. Check it out.

 

According to my ratings, Sierra Nevada Ovila Abbey Saison with Mandarin Oranges & Peppercorns, but I've only rated 6 saisons, so I missing out on some.

 

Normal Dupont and Avec Les Bons Voeux are both classics. Hennepin and Tank 7 are also really nice.
If you have access to Crooked Stave, both Surette and St. Bretta are great. They have seasonal variations as well.
A bit tougher to come by, but Casey Saison and East Bank = amazing. East Bank is made with honey, which dries it out and makes it a bit funkier. There are fruited versions (Fruit Stand), too, although those can be tough to get without a putting up a decent trade.

 

Not a big saison guy but the Boulevard Saison Brett is awesome

 

I'll echo the BA'ers on here. Tank 7.

 

Sofie, Tank 7, La Merle, Saison de Lente and Lil' Opal all scored well for me.

I enjoyed that Fantome offering tonight, This release was fantastic,
You may consider
Hennepin, Tank 7, both mentioned, but also try Brasserie Bluagies, Le Moneuse,
And no list of saison is complete IMHO without Arthur by Hill Farmstead.
