My favorite local brewery on the cover! When the issue arrives, I'll have to bring it over and read it with a glass of Rapture.

Looking forward to the piece on Kevin Lilly of Rock Brothers Brewing. Great guy, terrific business model, and no doubt his personal and business interests include ensuring the brews are of high quality.

Looks like you've got two subscriptions, which is typically caused by subscribing vs. renewing. We can fix this if you want, but one of the expires this month. Update: Fixed.

Wow...my local Dry Ground Brewery on the cover. Brewing some of my favorite beers, and only 3 blocks from the house. Delightful.

I'm really interested by the mention of Dry Hopped Sours. I love IPAs, love sours (possibly even more). the combination of these two styles is very interesting to me. as a bonus, ive read that brett eats up the oxygen in the bottle, adding to the preserve-ability of the true, fresh hop flavor. it irks me deeply when I get a new IPA only to find out that i cant taste it as it was intended (and preferred) due to the bottle overstaying its welcome on the shelf/cooler.

breweries are seemingly getting better about dating their bottles with actual dates and not cryptic Julian codes, or worse, no date/code at all. but they've still got a long way to go. not only would I love to taste a hoppy sour, but having the brett preserve the fresh hop flavor is an amazing bonus.

so....anyone care to recommend a hoppy sour? TIA

Sorry Chicky from Burley Oak and Carpe from Ale Apothecary are the two that immediately come to mind. I enjoyed them both.

From the article: Evil Twin's Sour Bikini, Pizza Boy's Eternal Sunshine, Prairie's Funky Gold, Breakside's La Tormenta, New Belgium's Le Terroir and Hop Tart, Cantillon's Iris, Grimm's Telekinesis and Psychokinesis, and several other examples. Borrow, order, or download a copy of the issue for details. Cheers!

Todd Walton looks like a young Bill Walton, and that's no joke. Any relation?

awesome. thanks for the tips. I will see if I can source those. I cant recall seeing those breweries in my local haunts but i'll for sure ask around. mucho gracias.

wowzers- that's quite a list. Evil Twin is available near me, I wish Pizza Boy was, haven't heard of Prairie, Grimm or Breakside until now, New Belgium is very familiar, Cantillion is an elusive and esoteric gem ive only read about...but will have the pleasure of enjoying at Beervana next week. im sure i wont be disappointed in anything they bring- maybe they'll even have the Iris.

also, I used to be a BA mag subscriber but let my subscription lapse. so i really appreciate you filling me in on some highlights from the article. that will hold me over until i can borrow my friends' copy. kudos. and cheers back atcha!

Glad to offer some recommendations—hopefully you can track down a dry hopped sour that you'll enjoy. The article is a five page feature though, so you'll have to read it for details. If you aren't able to borrow a copy, you can order a back issue from the store for $2.99, or download a digital copy instantly from Magzter or Google Play for $0.99. (And FYI, a one-year, 12-issue subscription will cost you less than a bottle of Cantillion.)

oh, for sure I don't doubt that the subscription is less than a bottle of Cantillion! lucky for me i wont need to buy the cantillion to enjoy some as it will be at the fest im going to on friday. I use to be a subscriber to BA mag, I was not aware however of the ability to purchase single issues- thanks for the tip. I have a friend who finished reading the issue so I will borrow his. eventually I will re-up my subscription.

If you are into or want to get into dry-hopped sours, I really recommend any of Grimm's offerings. Rainbow Dome, for example, was great.
