Gold Road by Mother Road Brewing out of Flagstaff.
Pours a medium golden color with tiny bubbles forming a half inch of white head that quickly disappears. Smell is lemony, some grains and a bit of corn. Taste is similar. Grainy, lemony, corn with a slight taste of a cream ale. Somewhat of a cloying, unpleasant aftertaste. Drinkable, yes but better options exist.

Interesting. I can't name a lot of equinox specific hopped beers off the top of my head, but the ones I can I have not noticed the green pepper smell or flavor. In fact, I have never picked up any bell pepper notes from any beer, and it is a very distinctive aroma/taste. As much as I love them, I have grown many, I don't think I am disappointed by this though.

Howdy NBS crew, happy November! I'm getting a late start today, because I spent all day outside working on fall cleanup. I should be wearing a coat and hat this time of year, but it was t-shirt weather! Certainly feels like it will be a very mild winter in WI.

Today I am enjoying a very nice beer from Jester King, Cervesa Sin Frontera.

It is golden orange with an off white 2.5 finger head. Fades into thick collar and leaves blobs of lacing on the glass. A nice tart aroma of grapes, apples, cherries, and notes of sherry. A very nice flavor profile that has a hint of maltiness, but gives a nice tart punch to your pallet. Some green apple, tart grape, and cherry flavors complimented by the sherry notes. A nice light body with a clean and dry finish, very refreshing. Reminds me more of an AWA than a Saison, but either way it was tasty.

In the middle of dinner prep but enjoying this DIPA from Deciduous Brewing this afternoon well now on to dark of evening since the time change. I'm making a kale salad with farrow and will be serving pan seared scallops with the salad. I'm drinking Epiphyte from Deciduous Brewing right now.
This beer pours a medium orangey golden color into my deciduous glass. A nice white foamy head on top.
The nose is tropical with lots of fruit and citrus. They list about all the know hops as ones that this beer doesn't have but with the great nose it has some wonderful yet discovered hops.
The taste is smooth just the right amount of bitterness with the citrus overtones we all expect from a great DIPA. There is no aftertaste from the finish a very clean finish. My hat is off to another great beer from Deciduous.
This is a great DIPA IMO and I'm hoping to see more like this to follow.

Finally home after having to work today. It sucks to have to work on New Beer Sunday. Enough of my whining, my first NBS beer is XX Chocolate Maple Porter by Stone Corral Brewing in Richmond VT.

    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

L- solid black coloring allowing no light through. Head is around a half centimeter of light white foam which recedes to thin ring with no lacing.
S-chocolate and malt with no maple presence.
T-Taste follows the smell exactly with some chocolate and roasty malts. Like every other beer I've ever had with the word maple on it, there is no maple presence left that isn't completely obscured by the malts or hops.
F- Mouthfeel is medium with light carb. It's similar to a thin stout.
O- The chocolate comes through, but the maple doesn't. This leads to a slightly above average brew instead of the very good brew it could have been.

12 oz bottle maked with a "Best By 12/27/2015
Picked up from my local, fresh from the truck, to his cooler, to my hands on the same day. So basically this should be pretty fresh.
Pour is a light copper meets orange blossom honey in hue. frothy white head builds energetically filling the top 4 fingers of my glass. But not being tightly packed, it drops down to a finger or so in less that a 60 count. Doliey-like lacing hazes the glass. Smell is grapefruit, mild pine and grass, with some generic hop bitterness. There might be some slight butter to metallic hint coming through. Hmm, diacetyl? Not sure. Malt comes through gently with a little bread/biscuitiness. I guess one could call this fairly "balanced" because the hops are barely in the driver's seat. Mouthfeel is fine. Finish is more of the pine and generic hop bitter. Pretty good, I just expected more from a fresh dose of hops.

As always, I like reading about yours. Keep 'em coming.

New Brewery and New IPA Sunday!

Today I caught some Feelz at work...so we're not going to go into that! Let's just get down with the Muvfakin Beer!

    Today's new brew is this!

Courtesy of @WesMantooth Dank You Brother!

My thoughts of this brew, if you will..

    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

16 ounce Can in a Belgian Tulip.

I've seen some posts about this Brewing Company yet never had any of their Offerings. So I am digging in this box that was sent to me from a Generous, Fellow Beer Advocate. Ok, time for the Brew! This brew Pours an Outstanding shade of Orange body, Murky as all get out. Nice crown of white Bubbles tops this beaut. Looks Pretty Standard and inviting.

Going in for the Nose.. At first whiff you pick up a Grain sweetness followed by an herbal hop presence. On the backend there's notes of Citrus rind but not too pungent. This also has a deep toasted bread aroma that reminds me of home..don't ask.

Time for the Flavah! First hits you with butterscotch sweetness and toasted bread quality that the aroma details. Second wave of Citric Rind (Oranges Dominant) that act as a refresher to the toast. As the flavor descend there's a heavy hit of Herbal/Spicy hops with some Weed like qualities that finishes. This finishes a bit weak, dry and thin with a subtle bitterness that flows evenly. Aftertaste brings you hop resins and orange citrus chalky yeast esters. The brew feels pretty cool on the palate. It's playful and light with with a weird smoothness that I actually prefer versus what else this brew is talking about. Carbonation is on point.

Overall: This is a tasty IPA. Very Herbal, Spicy and Green...if you know what I mean. The Citrus is laid back while more Earthy hops shine forth. You can taste the Hop Resins that seem to dominate more as you drink it. The aroma is a bit dull to me. As in not grabbing my attention to something new or thrashing my nostrils around. I would crush this brew on repeat if I had access to it. This Brew is Worthy!

    Grade: B+

Cheers my fellow New Beer Sunday Crew!

Good afternoon NBS#558! Just got home from spending the day at Madeira Beach, St. John's Village.
Stopped into Mad Beach Brewing while there, wanted to hit up Rapp Bros., 3 Daughters, Cycle and a few others, but of course there wasn't enough time with the family wanting to do some other things like parasailing and shoppinng.
So had a cool time there with a paddle of 6 different beers! I won't list them here as I am all about this one right now:

To Øl Dangerously Close To Stupid
    [IMG]
This one pours a dark dense cloudy orange body with a thick fluffy 2 fingers worth of head.
Aromas of lemon, tropical fruit and malt.
Taste hits the front of the tongue with a ton of tropical fruit and citrus, middle has a nice bitterness and then the malts come in the dry it out on the end.
Nice full mouth feel, with a dry lingering bitterness, not a hint of the 9.3% abv.
Overall, a tasty bitter hop bomb of a DIPA! Not sure if I will pay the $5.99 price tag for an 11.2 oz bottle again, but it was definitely worth the try! Was really shocked to see this on the shelf at my local ABCFW&S along with F*ck Art - This Is Architecture.

    Cheers!

Yesterday, during all the Halloween mayhem, I was digging around in my cellar for a
particular spectacular NBS beer when suddenly...

Me: "What the? ??? OMFG!!! OMFG!!! Some COLOSSAL IDIOT put stupid, stupid,
STUPID WINE in front a Great Lakes Chillwa....

    oh ...uuuh... I mean......

    Honey?

    [ clears throat ]

Is this your wine... ( goddamsunnuvadirtydogsassfuk ! ) ...in my beer dungeon?"

Wife from upstairs: "What is going on down there?! Is there a problem?"

    Me: "No, there's no problem...unless @SomethingClever or @jzeilinger
    finds out what you did."

    Wife: ....

    Anyway. It's NBS time!

After overcoming that bit of beer trauma, I pulled my Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel
Black Maple out. It's an 11% Imperial Porter brewed with Maple Syrup and
    Aged in Bourbon Barrels.

An offering personally handed to me by @WesMantooth that I have seemed to think
about (the beer that is) at least every other day since early August. This little bottle of
beer has even inspired random doodle drawings during mind numbingly stupid
meetings at work. I've even dreamed about drinking this beer. This of course is alarming
and no doubt the sign of a deeper problem, but...

It's now time to STOP thinking about it and START drinking it!!!

How is it? Well, it's an Imperial Porter brewed with maple syrup and aged in
bourbon barrels and created by Jackie O's.

I don't have time say anything else other than it's rich and DELICIOUS.

Let the sipping begin!!! Thank you @WesMantooth !

PS Not sure what to do with the Chillwave. I'll probably drink it with my
Hopslam this week...and take my medicine.

Good afternoon NBS, hope everyone is have a good Sunday! Went out to brunch with friends, started with Rochefort 8, not we but alway solid, followed by Mikkeller Mastodon Mother Puncher. Mother Puncher was good, solid IPA with a slight farmhouse influence and just enough passion fruit, hope to find a bottle in stores soon to do a full review.

A- A hazy brownish red with a two finger pink head.

S- Citrus, faint tropical fruits, some raspberries, nice earthy/piney spice.

T- Big on tart raspberries, citrus, grapefruit rinds, faint tropical fruits, earthy/piney finish, a slight creamy lacto quality with faint vanilla undertones.

    M- Smooth, creamy, nice carbonation.

O- A good mix of hops and raspberries, worth seeking out and be almost $8 a bottle. I am guessing this is influenced by the milkshake IPA they did with Tired Hands and is just making me want to drive up to Tired Hands next time they brew a milkshake.

Hey!! That sounds like a swipe ... sometimes the people gots to know.

But I think I know what you mean.

Looks like it is a BA version the base Pumpkin Farmhouse, which didn't quite work for me itself. Not a huge fan of any rum-barreled brews I've had, so glad to know I am not missing much but not grabbing this beer.

    New American Pale Ale Sunday

Hello all! Seasonably chilly here in Milwaukee (60 and sunny). I can't believe that tomorrow it will be two years since I moved here from New Jersey...time flies. Anyway, today's brew is from Alpine - Hoppy Birthday! I love the beer! Nice and hoppy, yet with a smooth malt backbone. I scored it a 4.3, which is just a slight hair under the current average. It says on the label "Session IPA", listed here as APA - really doesn't matter... A hop-forward, juicy brew it is!

Back for another that I picked up in Arizona. Going with a bomber of Elysian Dark O' The Moon pumpkin stout with a bottle date of 7/20/15 poured into a twelve ounce tulip. At my bro's for a Sunday bottle share, let's go....

Pours a dark brown with some tan foam. The aroma is all cinnamon and nothing else. A flavor profile of a cinnamon stick with a bit of dark roast. Feel is mouth tingly from the predominantly cinnamon profile.

Overall not a drain pour, but a small pour was enough for me. It's a one dimensional cinnamon bomb and not much else. Live and learn! My score was 3.38 / rDev - 13.1%.

That's it for now, enjoy your new beer endeavors. Link to review .......
