Technically it's Arrogant Bastard Brewing Co. now but it's still brewed by Stone at their Escondido brewery like it always has been.

My Bastard box sets all look just like stone except there is no mention of stone anywhere. I need to pop these in the fridge and open a depth charged.

    Enjoy

It's been canned for a long time now. I've picked up 15.5 gallon cans of several times.

Not according to the label (snip from can label below, enhanced)

Isn't it just a simply 'dba' marketing name? I don't think the many 'dba's' used on many of the beers by brewers like Pabst or Anhueser-Busch are all listed under the 'dba' name on BA, are they?

The TTB COLA application for the beer is listed as being from Stone with the typical "used on label" TTB terminology for a 'dba' name, and the Brewer's No. is the same one used for Stone Brewing Co. for over a decade.

It is still being Brewed at Stone, regardless of what the brewery name they put on the label.

We're basing our listings according to my discussions with Stone and their intentions.

So why is it such a surprise that Bud Light is the #1 beer?

Is one of the reasons for the spin off due to the beer being brewed in other locations as well? Or did I just misread something. Anyway - Arrogant Bastard in cans would be nice.

Not to digress, but a couple of thoughts regarding Arrogant Bastard being its own brewing company...

Obviously, there's a long American tradition of "separate companies" (really: brand families) under the same ownership. Ford & Lincoln, GM & Pontiac, Chevy, etc. Not to mention Anheuser-Busch & Michelob, Budweiser, Busch.

And Stone, Bless 'Em, are just the folks to have that ambition--and/or desire to mess with our heads.

My memory may be a little fuzzy (for some odd reason...), but I seem to remember searching a Stochasticity Project bomber for an indication that it was from Stone and failing to find any...

Would love to have their Imperial Stout in cans. I still think it's world class and there aren't many other canned imperial stouts. Ten Fidy's the only one I see regularly.

The first release Grapefruit slam made no mention of Stone besides the gargoyle hidden in the logo and said it was brewed at Koochenvagner's brewing. All subsequent releases have Said Stone above Stochasticity on the label and brewed at Stone.

Not a Stone specific question, but why do we think this is? Why are Imperial Stouts rarely canned?

Probably for aging reasons. Imperial stouts age well, and not many people age their cans.

And another digression, in case anyone at Stone (or "Stochasticity Project") is listening: PLEASE BRING BACK GRAPEFRUIT SLAM IPA!!! This brew is too amazing to have been a one-off. I feel hop-martyred that my favorite all-time beer is not available regularly. [Whew. I feel so much better getting that off my chest. I'll feel completely healed if y'all find a way to make the stuff regularly available. Be creative! Give Stochasticity its own brewery or something!]

Favorite all-time beer is a one-off? Sounds like my wife with Lagunitas Citrusinensis and Weyerbacher Camelopardalis (after typing those out it seems like she only likes complicated beer names that begin with "C").
