This BIF, round 1 and 2, has not only given me great beers from outside my distribution, but also opened me up to a ton more breweries and styles! There are way too many to list! I need to take time, while it is quiet at work, at run through everything and read about the breweries and styles. I'll be adding a ton more to my list! But off the top of my head, Hoof Hearted, Hill Farmstead, Wicked Weed and Lawson's are ones that I want to try more than anything. Guess I would add Grimm to that as well! I'll keep an eye on Grimm for you @MTKATL and @Eziel. It sells out incredibly fast and would be a bit easier if in NYC. I've only gotten 3 cans in the past 4 months (2 Cloudbusting - how was it @brightcloud313 and 1 Tesseract). There are others that are closer to Trillium and Treehouse than me (about 2-3.5 hours away). But I'll be heading up there sometime in the next few months as my mom hooked me up with some gift certificates to each. I'm trying to pull my brother into trading/BA as he works very close to Trillium. So maybe we can work something out in the future @jonbonfondle and @Eziel. These are nice sized/priced bottles. Something a 6 or 12 shipper is perfect for! Hope your sister hooked you up with Kane! If not, I'll take care of you sometime.
See my above post on Trillium and Treehouse. I'll be glad to get you any when I'm up there. And anytime you need your Other Half fix, let me know.
I was really surprised by the hazy pour! Love the artwork and name, but the beer fell a little short for me. Might have been the Other Half beers I may have drank before it?! (Thanks BTW) I went back to re-read the description here and I think I am missing a little of the tropical-ness I was looking for or maybe it was the nelson hops that weren't doing it for me....I am not sure. Won't stop me from trying it again sometime.
Agreed on falling short. I had a Tesseract a day or two before which was a great Northeast DIPA. Really good...as in one of the best I've had. I knew Cloudbusting was different than it with the hops and what I read. I got what I was expecting, more of a white wine sangria taste. Not bad, but not great. Awesome can art! I'm sure the OH beers didn't help with the tropical juice taste, especially AGE.
I'd be glad to help anyone out with NE beers that I can get fairly easily. I'm actually only about an hour north of Boston but just hate the parking issues most of the time with Trillium. Lately I have been tending to drink more stuff from Night Shift. I think there APA Whirlpool is top shelf and the IPA Santilli is good and also there DIPA The 87 is now in 16oz cans. They also have some good porters and sours. Right now Prospect from Foley Bros IMO is one of the best DIPA's coming out of VT and fairly easy to get. And of course SOS and Super Session 2 from Lawson's are limited but not real hard to get.
Sounds great to me!!! on all fronts! On a Hoof Hearted note, they are a little under 2hr from me. I stopped there on Sunday to grab beer and thankfully, my wife is hooked (who isn't hooked"?!)... Anyway, that means 2 things. 1) It should be easier talking her into making the drive up there knowing how much she likes it and 2) With at least 2 of us going, we have the chance for getting quite a lot of beer meaning I'll have some to spread around the Newbie board (and the SWer board too of course!)
Okay we final have snow here in NH well not good snow but about 6" of sleet so far today and for my challenge in the GIF I was requested to go outside and make a large snow angel and place the challenge beer close to the snow angel and take a picture to share. So here you go. And to show the beer a little closer. My thanks to @Eziel for sharing this great beer. I may not get to drinking it for a couple more days as @Coldstorage has been keeping going pretty strong during the 12 days BIF so far
Night Shift makes great beer. I'll 2nd your comments on Whirlpool. I also like the idea behind the Morph series. Only had one or two, which I thought should be made regularly, they were great. Very cool space as well! I'll have to add Prospect to my list of wants!
Anyone else hearing about some infection popping up in BCBCS 2015? Some fibs over in the SWer thread have mentioned it. Sounds like it is getting worse. Luckily I only scored 1 bottle and plan to drink it tomorrow night. Cheers....
Yeah, I saw a thread about that here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/bourbon-county-coffee-2015-gusher.361997/ Now I don't feel so bad about not getting any, plus @sembo tipped me off to an infusion expert in the Locals so I'm planning to just make up my own.
Yikes - I didn't notice issues in the 2-3 bottles I've tried, but it makes me nervous about what I have left.
Black dipa Brew day tomorrow with @brightcloud313 I am bringing my sunny side crowler and tired hands saison half growler.
Plane ticket to Huna Day just purchased.... now, I just need to land tickets! Ha... hope to see some Newbies there..
Sadly, it appears as though I will be unable to attend. Too many expenses coming up and I've been trying to swing this but the ol lady ain't budging...
Don't forget anyone looking to get into the next round of the GIF BM me your information before 1/1 Midnight.
