Hey all, my GF and I have planned a vacation in Asheville for the first week in March. We are staying downtown at the Altamont.

Here is what we have planned so far:
    Sierra Nevada beer geeks tour
    Wicked Weed
Bus brewery tour (looking for recommendations)
    Maybe hit up Oskar Blues

    Any other recommendations or suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Carl

Check out Burial, Wedge, Twin Leaf. Shop at Tasty Beverage or Bruisin Ales. Eat at Curate, Salsas, Rhubarb, Farm Burger. Get sweets at French Broad Chocolate Lounge and Nightbell.

Add Appalachian Vintners to bottle shops, and The Admiral to restaurants.

The admiral is great but if you want in make a reservation now. It's always full.

Sierra Nevada should be on your list. Can't say Oskar Blues is worth the drive to Brevard, we were disappointed.

Look for an app called "Brewpon Asheville" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pn.br.mobile&hl=en. This is the Android link, but think it's available for iPhone also. Gives hours, distance, links to maps.

There are 20+ in and near Asheville, all have their own vibe or thing. South Slope area has 8 breweries within walking distance. From one brewery you can see 3 other breweries all within a block.

New Belgium may be open by March!

Outside of downtown, Highland, French Broad, Wedge, Hi-Wire Big Top, Oyster House (plus food, blue cheese fried oysters are great), Altamont, Pisgah, Lookout, Sweeten Creek (new, haven't been there myself, yet)

    Note: The Admiral is $$$$$

The south slope breweries are all walkable from Wicked Weed including Asheville Pizza and Brewing plus Hi-Wire and One World. But honestly, you hit them all and do a flight it will turn into a crawl instead of a walk... :grinning: If you want to learn a bit about Asheville and have some laughs hit up a Lazoom Tour, and it is BYOB. Picks up across the street from Wicked Weed, I prefer the female comedian. F y I.

@FATC1TY @blue-dream Would you consider merging this thread with this one -- and retitle it "Things To Do/Beers to Drink in Asheville" since they're essentially the same thing? Thanks!

We've got some stuff in the works for some sticky and updated threads for the major visits in each regional area.

I'm gonna let this one ride; as always- search! There's a good bit out there already

Good deal. My friend @BKnarr has done a phenomenal job with Tampa/Orlando!

A visit to the Thirsty Monk is like going to beer church. After all the south slope drinking, it can be difficult to muster up the intestinal fortitude to go to the basement of Thirsty Monk, but if you love belgian beers, you'll love TM's basement.

You won't likely make it over there, but my wife and I have come to prefer drinking in West Asheville. The Brew Pump and Pour Taproom are favorite spots. But West Asheville is really for your 2nd or 3rd trip. Probably the same for the River Arts District. Great finds in both locations, but the South Slope is an experience in and of itself.

Green Man is a favorite, especially their ESB. A new brewery there should be opening soon: Bhramari Brewhouse. We'll be there in two weeks and plan to visit Sweeten Creek Brewing out near Highland Brewing.

Visit to the Biltmore, white water rafting, mountain biking along trails from the Blue Ridge parkway, flyfish Pisguah Nat Forrest..

Oh wait your talking only about beer tours! Seriously Burial is great and Pisgah Valdez is a solid coffee stout to try also. All those mentioned above are great too. Do take some time to explore to area, it's gorgeous!

March won't be a bad time. But way early to experience the awesomeness of the area.

End of April on is legit. Especially if you enjoy the outdoors.

I'll toss my hat in the ring- we enjoy the south slope area. Easy to get most of it done. Spread out for the mega wants but we can keep it close and have a whole day of parents only time and fun.

We do it often so we don't hit all the must haves- look around for those.

Should be easy, most of the sours aren't huge hitters, and you'll be shorting yourself if you fill yourself up and don't hit other places like Green Man and Burial around the corner.

Someone on here recommended it when I was asking about Asheville a few months ago but Salsas for food is a must visit...their Pork Mulcajete Dish served in a Lava Bowl was seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten...we all liked it so much we went back again 3 days later

Wow, there are many more places to hit than when we were there just a few years ago! We unfortunately didn't get to go to as many places then as we wanted but I can definitely vouch for Green Man and Asheville Brewing. Barley's is a great place to get some really good reasonably priced food and they have a ton of taps allowing to you to sample beer from all around the region (it's where I first had Foothill's Jade). Can't wait to get back sometime!

I wouldn't pay for any of the brewery tours... they are all walking distance and might get you a few tasters at each place and point their fingers at the tanks, but you can do all that yourself.
