    Hey guys and gals.

My wife and I are taking a road trip from Our home in Jupiter Florida to Asheville North Carolina this weekend for 4 days for some hiking and I hear Asheville is full of Breweries.

Just wanted to see if there was any special recommendations or "must go" stops.

    Thanks!

    I've got this one ...

Hi, @BeeNye and welcome to BeerAdvocate. In the upper navigation bar, you'll see "Places." Go there, scroll down to the state you're visiting (NC in this case) and then the city you're visiting (Asheville in this case). In fact, Asheville has such a hopping beer scene that it has its own breakout of breweries, brewpubs and bottle shops that's available directly under the state name. Following that path before visiting a new city is always a winner.

@KRubes got in slightly ahead of me. I think you'll find, if you stick around, that the denizens of the South-Atlantic forum are generally a friendly, helpful bunch. Asheville is VERY popular and it seems there's a "What should I do in Asheville?" thread started weekly when it's been covered extensively. Here is the most recent thread, for example.

I'm not trying to be flip and hope I don't come across that way. I'd throw out a few breweries' names but 1) I don't know your preferred styles and 2) such lists inevitably spawn, "No, no, no. You need to go to X and Y"-type responses.

    Safe travels; cheers!

You'll figure Asheville out by just walking around. Eat at Curate (wonderful Tapas, and more). Make it up to Mt.Mitchell, just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Tallest mountain (6,684 ft.) east of the Mississippi. More like a Canadian climate, with good trails.

Someone on here recommended Salsas to me last year....and specifically their Pork Mulcajete Dish(sp?)...truly one of my favorite meals ever...just great inventive food...frankly I was expecting the beer in Asheville to be stellar, but the food scene up there is awesome as well as everywhere we ate was really good

I've walked by here multiple times. Maybe I should pop in when I am there in May.

Well, guess that proves the theory, even jerks can make great food.

Edit: There is a lot to do in Asheville, really is. From the Parkway up to Mitchell to the Biltmore House and grounds. If you do an internet search you will not lack for things to see and do especially if it is your first time in town.

Also if you're into coffee. Trade And Lore coffee opened today. Former barista at Waking Life Espresso, she left after their scandal. They're going to serve Mountain Air Espresso which is roasted in Ashevile, it is phenomenal coffee.

We usually hit up Limones when in town, also Biscuit Head for breakfast, both I highly recommend.

Farm Burger is great. While I enjoy Salsas and Curate, Farm Burger is great food and much easier on the wallet. Then you can spend more on beer!
The Tune Up Shop and Doc Choys are all very good, and there is a Korean Stone Bowl place on the less 'touristy' south side of town that is very tasty as well.

If you are coming this weekend, Wicked Weed will have some in-person bands for the Red Angel release, and probably some tasty stuff on tap (This is at the Funkatorium). Myself and a bunch of other BA'ers will be in town if you want to meet up and say hi to anyone!
