What's going on with Harriet Brewing?

I used to see Harriet's beers at local bars a lot more than I do now. In fact I don't think I've seen any of their beers while out for at least six months. I heard from someone who knows someone (you know how that goes) that the reason I'm not seeing their beer around more is they're selling so much at their taproom. Friday I stopped in at the brewery and they closed at about 11, and it didn't seem like they were doing that big a business. Granted, that was one night, but it looks like they've sent one tweet out this year, and I'm not seeing any other marketing from them recently. Anyone know what's going on there? I really like a lot of their beer. Their Wodan Weizen hefe is really nice, their doppelbock is really good, like their pils, Divine Oculust, etc. I'd hate to see my neighborhood brewery struggling.

There are much bigger rumors than you heard, but they are not worth spreading on here.

The last time I was there (last fall), it was pretty messy. Their sound system was clearly broken, but they were blasting it anyways. I did one of their tours and the guide was a heavily intoxicated college girl who ended up falling into one of their open drains. Their Divine Oculust aged on Brett is quite good, although it bugs me that they call it a sour.

Either add to the discussion or don't bother saying it. "I know something something you don't know, but I'm not gonna say it."

While he didn't come out and say it explicitly, he outlined it pretty well in his story. Sounds like a lotta not giving a damn, to me.

Perhaps. Pre-coffee snark was strong, but I stand by it, dammit! :grinning:

There are health issues that are negatively effecting Harriet as a business/brewery that need to be dealt with by the ownership. Let's leave it at that.

This is new to me. My band has played there a few times and never had a problem with the sound or sound guy.

I think he means the system they spin records on.

    That is correct.

Bummer to hear, Harriet deserves some props for being the first taproom to open up in Minneapolis. I haven't been there in years, but remember their beers being drinkable - and appreciating their proximity to Gandhi Mahal deliciousness.

I stopped in last night about 8:30 and for a Tuesday night they had a pretty good crowd.
Also I liked the beer. A Belgian brown at a nearly sessionable size (4.8%)
