From their FB page: Fellow Harriet Brewing Supporters, Harriet Brewing will close after Jan 31, 2017. After 6 crazy years, it’s time to move on. Development plans for our property do not align with Harriet; thus, we’ve been forced to relocate. After much contemplation, it has become apparent that Harriet can only exist in it’s current location. Attempting to relocate and repeat would be lame. Relocating would require a new brand and business plan, and, frankly, starting another brewery now seems unoriginal and risky in this saturated market. Please join us in supporting the final chapter of Harriet Brewing during these next 3 moths! Let’s celebrate the short life of this fantastic MN craft brewery! The music will rock and the beer will flow till the end! Yours in the love of beer!
Wow, didn't see this coming at all. I have a friends in the neighborhood who love this place. The few times I've been there, I've really enjoyed the vibe, but their beer wasn't really my thing, though I understand why people like it. Too bad, seemed like they were doing well.
Wow that's sad,... admittingly have not been in awhile but did hoist many pints there. It was one of the early brewpubs. Always had a good time there. That neighborhood is the next to be max gentrified IMO.
Hope the best for the people who work there. Was a matter of time I until this happened. I never cared much for their beer and never went to the brewery.
Has Wodan Weizen been around the last year or so? I swear I never saw it on the their website anymore. That sucks to hear. I enjoy their beers.
They were really bad about updating the tap list on their website--Untappd is a much more reliable way to see what they've been serving. I'm pretty sure they had Wodan Weizen on tap over the summer.
It was on when I was there Saturday. Been too long since I've had it. Still delicious. The Dunkelweizen was also pretty solid IMO.
closing next week Fellow Harriet Supporters, As much as we want to keep this place groovin' until January 31, we are financially incapable of doing so. Thus, next Wednesday, November 30th, will be our last day of business. The taproom will keep normal hours until then. We would love to see all of you over the next week. Thank you for 6 wild and crazy years! It's been a hell of ride. Yours in the love of beer!
Bummer but not surprising. I don't think anyone really took the whole relocation excuse seriously anyways. Sad to see a solid lineup ultimately go down due to poor marketing and lack of distribution.
Yes I agree. I did like this place but I am not sure if they focused enough on what I saw as their niche enough....the Wodan Weizen and off shoots of that. Those are the beers that should have been on tap off site....I'm into hefe-weizens and thought theirs was excellent just below the top tier of Schell Hefe (they own that tier by themselves)....in that next tier is where I would put them but slightly behind Fair State (which in many other states might rate #1 but not with Schell Hefe here)...right there with Enki...
I agree that Wodan Weizen should of been on-tap everyone during summers instead of West Side. Even West Side tap handles became a rarer sight over the years.
