Good morning early birds and good night fellow third shifters....

Id just like to say if you are lookin for a pilsner, this isn't it. This is like the bridge between pils and pale ale. This is sweet for a pils and has tropical flavors to it. Still, its a good beer. Its nice to see styles seamlessly intertwined. Cheers.

And after tonight, battling through tendonitis in my achilles, unloading two truck loads, i needed that second beer haha

My first from weihenstephaner and that does it, im moving to Germany. Its so god dam good. Such a delicate yet full flavored beer.

And cheers @Sixpoint for making such lovely glassware. Now if you would kindly realease any type of version of an Oktoberfest style this year i will gladly sell you my soul for a case. You ever want to brew beer with a human soul? Im clean but the beer will most likely be dark and bitter lol. Its a win-win. Because its never been done and ill get to haunt your brewery when the time comes. Lol

Enough dark humor. Cheers all have a nice day.

Getting ready for a short road trip. Caved and bought a van--not for the trip, but because we'll have a third addition arriving in the near future. Will still only drive the (white) van against my will, defaulting to getting behind the wheel of my nineteen year old Jeep at every opportunity.

    And another favorite...

Need some extended tracks for the road.

    Morning, BA's....TGIF indeed! Happy Friday...yea!

I am off a long weekend, and the forecast is nearly 70 today and sunny in 73 Sat-Sun and more blue skies! Love it!!

Mid - April here for me, can mean one thing for certain....time to get my sailboat ready and launch her this weekend! I am super excited; the long winter months cannot be over soon enough for me to get back out on the water!

In the meantime....some chocolate milk for breakfast!

The color is off it's orange. It uses mandarin orange peel though. Clear, but not especially bright and bubbly with a good flourish form bubbles that made a tall white head that lasted very well. There is not too much scent from malt and instead of golden bread I am smelling dry cracker. Hops show earth to the nose and if you really look for it a light citric backed spice. Not enough scent from hops to remind me of the pilsner. As the beer warms the hops do start to show some weedy coolness. Taste is floral and soft with a small bubble that bites a little. There is some dms on the nose and in the flavor. The finish is watery and shows me some of that cracker in the finish. IS it a pilsner? No. It's a soft bland beer. And there is residual sweetness in the finish. The dms actually finishes this beer. Poor, fizzy. There's also nothing about it to suggest that it's Belgian in any way. It is drying from hop bitter after the swallow and does not show diacetyl or fruity esters from yeast. You cannot taste the mandarin orange at all.

Good morning BAs! It's a beautiful day in scummy Pennsylvania - the sun is shining through the naked trees, threatening to kill all the moss in my back yard but stimulating the dandelions out front. Looks like a nice weekend, so maybe beer brewing time - time for a rye pale ale. Today on NBF, it's:

The weakest of the Sculpin line to date for my taste (Regular Sculpin > Grapefruit > Habanero > Pineapple) and I love pineapple. Once you get the initial blast of pineapple aroma it rapidly fades and doesn't make it into the taste. Picked this up at The Lager Mill in Frankenmuth, MI, last week before it even got price tagged and moved to the cooler.

A little late but had (finally) the Founders Centennial IPA last night with my cheeseburger at Au Cheval in Chicago - fantastic juice with that item - just couldn't report it on my mobile BAapp at the time. Great balanced beer, as usual with anything Founders, and was surprised at how round/full the beer was for a largely single-hop IPA. Onward, to more beers of the Midwest today....thinking Half Acre again to see a former student, hmmm....

Happy Friday BAs. Somebody had to play this. Hard to find some Beatles originals on YouTube for some reason. Bad covers of them, no problem. This one however? How could it be anything but amazing?
