This. Yeah, the guy seems like a butthead and I wouldn't trade with him, but if you want people to have respect for the rules, penalties should only be imposed when they're broken.

Of course, making his actions public to help people make informed choices about whether to have anything to do with him is another matter entirely.

Time to add Mr. Mendes to the do not trade list. This sort of behavior is bullshit.

Agreed, but that's a two-way street. The flip-side is that you have to penalize people when they break the rules. As far as I'm concerned, all they need to do is enact the punishment he should have received the first time, per the rules.

He was given leniency and abused it. Time to suffer the consequences he should have suffered in the first place.

ThomasMendes1 has just put up another ISO:FT, is there a way to protect potential victims?

He needs to be banned asap... it's his second offense in a short period of time

Before comments were eliminated at least we could post on his threads and warn potential victims, now the guilty party is protected. I have faith mods will do the right thing here, this guy is a stain on the community and needs to go.

Seems like mods really dropped the ball on this one. Rules are here for a reason, and so are their penalties if they aren't followed. This user should have been banned before this ever happened.

No, the mods haven't dropped the ball on this one. At all. In the first dispute linked above, ThomasMendes1 was called out and told he needed to respond and remove the bad feedback he had left, and he did that. In the dispute in this thread, ThomasMendes1 definitely behaved poorly, but he did not break any rules.

If anything, the mods have bent the rules slightly in the other direction, to make this behavior known for the good of the community, as what went on here clearly doesn't actually meet the criteria for creating a bad trader thread.

I couldn't agree more, and I was thinking about posting something very similar.

This kind of behavior is what I was talking about in the "not quite a bad trader" thread I posted a couple weeks ago. This guy has skirted around what "technically" makes a bad trader even though he has clearly demonstrated he can't be trusted to keep his word. The only thing that gives integrity to the trading system is...well...integrity, which he doesn't have. No, he does not meet the parameters established for being a "bad trader" but he is playing the system and continuing to trade.

A trader like this can't be trusted and will wind up screwing someone over. No doubt in my mind.

Good points. Also, he actually met the parameters of a banning by leaving retaliatory feedback, but didn't get banned. Only thing saving him from official bad feedback now is trading system wasn't used.

    Couldn't agree more with this.

Have to say I think the "Bad Trader" label that is used to tag a guy while a bad trader dispute is being resolved is a great tool and I would suggest the use of it be expanded. I agree that @ThomasMendes1 should not be banned, but should instead carry the "Bad Trader" label for some period of time and a link put on his profile to this type of thread. It would be a great heads up to those who he tries to deal with subsequently, and it's then on him to explain to future trade partners. They can then make an informed decision on whether to deal with him. Kind of like a Scarlett Letter.

Well now backing out of trades right before beer is exchanged is allowed (even when the trade system is used)... apparently that has always been the rule. So by ba's standards @ThomasMendes1 is well with in his rights to auction off beer and back out of IP trades 30 minutes before the meet up. I guess the mods should delete this thread

That is really a bummer change, in my opinion. Agreed trades (particularly when the feedback system is used) should be like a contract. Backing out should result in bad feedback.

This @ThomasMendes1 is slime, and slime has the ability to get through the cracks in walls. He didn't break any rules, he slimed through them, and this thread has outed him. Again. I thank the mods for letting this fly.

I don't blame victims, but protecting yourself with a search of this forum is the bare minimum due diligence to do in a trade. At least now this thread will come up doing that minimum.

Again, This guy did break the rules before by leaving bad retaliatory feedback..That is against the rules..They let this guy slide for some reason..He should have had a sterling record from then on out..Yet just a month later, this guy does this..This guy does not deserve to trade on this site..JMO I guess..Since it seems the Mods are ok with this...With all this said, traders, USE THE FRIGGIN TRADE SYSTEM..It helps everyone out..

I prob shouldn't reply but I agree, the guy had previous trouble, he did break the rules, he slimed out of being banned from trading, but this incident near as I can tell he only slimed through the rules, didn't break them.
