?

Could you limit yourself to a $50/month beer budget?

If I had a small one and another on the way and had to move in with the inlaws, I'd probably say to hell with it and drink Steel Reserve, behind the garage where my mother in law couldn't yell at me.

Would probably take up smoking again as well.

If I wasn't interested in ticking I could easily just drink Sierra Nevada. I am getting past the point of every beer I have needing to be different. But if you are drinking 20 beers a week there is no way you are making it under $50! :stuck_out_tongue:

Even with a $50 a month budget what you might discover after 18-24 months is how much you had previously been paying for hype.

There's a liquor store that sells craft beer by the case (attached to the Costco). They have New Belgium, Odell, and Left Hand Mix 12-packs. They are $30-35 for 2, so you get 24 beers for that much money.
Add a bomber and/or a mix-6 pack per month, that's going to spend most of your money.
A couple years ago the left hand packs were $25 each and they carried 2 different kinds, it was a great deal.

$50 a month is more than I spend a month on beer. Granted i'm a smaller guy and usually only one drink a night at most, except for maybe the weekend.

Mix-a-six is how i get my variety (though not always the cheapest option), or buying those variety 12 packs from a brewery. Multiples also tend to accumulate so the variety slowly builds anyways when I just buy 6 packs.

hype catches up sometimes, maybe once every 2-3 months, ill get that bomber

My wife just told me a couple days ago that she thinks I should have a $20 monthly beer budget. Hahahaha.

Easily. I normally just spend about $30 a month.

If this also means $0 for draft beer outside the home, then I don't see it happening.

Costco (you don't need a membership to buy beer in MA) has craft cases like Jack's Abby/Harpoonfor around $25-$35. Also if you live near NH Market Basket always has craft 12 packs sometimes as low as 10.99 with no deposit. I've relied on them both when I've been in the same situation. Congrats on the new addition!

    Uhh...yeah. I can and do.

Buy cases of SN or Lagunitas at Coscto for $24. Grocery stores and places like CVS/RiteAid usually have 12 packs at a good price...$12.99-14.99.

Last week Sprouts (grocery store) had 6 packs of Lagunitas, Stone, and Firestone (not Union Jack) for $7.99. I picked up a couple Laguntas and kinda wish I would have picked up some Stone IPA while I was at it. A few months back, another local grocery store had Dales Pale Ale for $6.99 (it was fresh too). When on a budget, sometimes you have to stock up.

I should be able to, but I haven't been doing so for years now. So I said "no." My average month is probably ~$100 at the bottle shop, and more if you count restaurant/bar beer.

I'm trying to figure out a way to answer this without sounding like a drunken asshole. I spend $50 a week now and that does not include expensive bombers, so you can imagine the amount of beer I drink on a weekend. Oh well. The answer is no, I couldn't do it unless I was forced to. Wish I could. At least I'm honest. Kinda tired of hearing beer advocates that post on this site everyday that say they only drink 2 beers a week .....

    Considering i've spent a little over $600 since 5/1/16 - probably not.

    i'm a little ashamed.

edit* there have been quite a few releases this month in my area so maybe that's why.

The longest I've gone without buying beer was like a 13 days. I think I have more of a buying problem, than a drinking problem, lol

Yeah its tough...I'm trying to be thrifty and spend about $25-$30 a week these days. And I drink only 1-2 beers a day on average. Progressing into better beers are more expensive.

4 pack of a local Saison ($13) and a $9.99 bomber Gose, came to $24 after taxes yesterday. I'll probably drink 1-2 of the cans max, give 2 away to friends in a swap for something they have and will share the bomber of Gose. That won't last very long and will require another mix sixer for around $15 to get me covered happily for 7 days at 1-2 beers a day, so that pushes close to $40 for this week. Yikes.

I live off 12-packs of Sierra Nevada, Smuttynose, Notch, Ipswich, etc. Ranging from $12-16 per on a weekly basis. Then maybe stretch for an interesting 4/6 or bomber on a weekend. It's pretty easy to do.
