Cap d'Ona Brune (think, Stout), 5.0% ABV, like a much better Guinness. Getting used to this stuff. Rye choco-roastiness with a nice dark head. From a small beach town in southern France (Argeles-sur-mer). Cheers, all.

 

The books on the staircase in the background are pretty much the story of our house.

 

Not normally a big Brewdog fan but this is pretty good. Tastes like a chocolatier Left Hand Milk Stout. Excellent price point too, will pick up some more!

 

A moment of relaxation in the back woods listening to the birds. I woke up against my will before sunrise for a sweat drenched 4.25 mile run, then my oldest mutt decided she wanted to go for a long walk. All good as they're both now napping from their journey.

I was a little worried what this last bottle might taste like after over a year, but I'm pleasantly surprised. While the coffee flavor is long gone, there's a pleasing chocolate profile and I'm detecting more barrel flavor than I did when fresh, especially the oak notes. Perhaps the robust coffee flavor drowned that out when this beer was fresh? What a great beer that cost me a whopping $8.99 for the bomber. This really needs to be released again!

Sierra Nevada Nooner Pilsner



Appearance: Light gold color with snow white cape and good lacing.

Aroma: Floral hops supported by light malt.

Taste: Very good hop forward, malt supported, clean finish.

Texture: No more or less than what one expects for a Pilsner style Lager, at least as good as average and better than most.

Overall: Another winner from Sierra Nevada. Consistent, step above conventional, stuff I can serve to discerning beer friends or guests who have good taste but little interest in beer other than they want it to taste good.

 

Great trio of gifts: beer, glass, and opener from a cool dude. Cheers BA!
