FOBAB 2016

Hasn't it been the weekend before Thanksgiving every year?

edit: This is wrong, however, I believe it is actually the 3rd weekend in November based on historical dates.

Last year: Nov 20/21 (21 was 3rd sat)
2014: Nov 13/14 (14 was 3rd sat)
2013: Nov 16 (3rd sat)
etc...

 

How could the 14th be the 3rd Saturday?

 

Not sure if he got the dates mixed up (I'm not sure when FOBAB actually was that year), but the 15th was the 3rd Saturday in November. So, perhaps it was the 14th/15th instead of 13th/14th as he originally said.

So it seems like this year should be on the 18th/19th then, if it follows the 3rd Saturday rule. That also happens to be the weekend before Thanksgiving.

 

With Shelton Festival tickets going on sale tomorrow, I have to ask, has anybody gone to both FOBAB and Shelton? I'd like to know which is better, because with CBC Boston already on my agenda, I can't justify going to both.

 

haven't been to shelton, but all I can say is FOBAB is so epic that I no longer go to 80% of the other beer fests that I used to go to

 

Have also not been to Shelton, but my assumption is that Shelton is a general beer fest (with mead and cider, I know), whereas FoBAB is all barrel-aged. Depending on your tastes, one or the other may be a better choice. FoBAB is essentially a whalefest, since a lot of the breweries are rolling out either their finest BA beers (past years Bells has brought Black Note, Perennial brought BA Abraxas, Goose Island always brings literally every BCBS + tap-only variants, etc.), but I imagine that Shelton will also have some nice easy-drinking stuff for when you want to take a break from extreme sours and super heavy stouts.

Does anyone know when tickets usually go on sale for FOBAB? Forgive me, this will be my first time "attempting" to go

 

Looks like end of August-ish. Take a look at posts around here in the 2015 thread.

 

I emailed the IMBIBE admin Katie, and she confirmed the event dates will be 11/11 and 11/12. VIP pre-sale will happen 9/9 to 9/12 with notification emails to be sent in the coming weeks.

The right to purchase VIP tickets requires a 30 day period of IMBIB membership. This deadline is quickly approaching...so get on it before it's too late!

 

I signed up today before realizing they tweeted yesterday was the deadline. Damn. I emailed them to see if I'd be ok but I might have to try to cancel it if not

 

The real question is when to Voulenteer signups start.

 

Glad the date is set, I'm free that weekend. Totally plan on being there. Just need to get tickets, which is the hard part.

Any chance they'll announce volunteers BEFORE tickets go on sale?

 

Hoping to go this year, love barrel-aged beers so this is right up my alley. Are tickets that hard to get? Already cleared out that Friday evening for this event.
