On a screwed up jet-lagged schedule so it was 1 a.m. - back in the breach: FW Luponic Distortion, then back to bed. Now back up. Cheers, BA... with one eye open.

 

Off Color Brewing Apex Predator Farmhouse Ale.

 

I said to my fridge "give me my usual."
Then I realized I was talking to an inanimate object and got it myself.

After a few days of light to no drinking, I started the day with an Ozark Cream Stout.



My one and only from yesterday; Prairie Apple Brandy Noir.



This is from Pub W in Oklahoma City Monday night; Prairie Paradise. Draft only. A stout with Vanilla and Coconut. I really wasn't impressed with this one. It was WAY too sweet and the coconut had a weird artificial taste.

 

Ghost River 1887 IPA



Appearance: Light gold with white cap and decent lacing.

Aroma: Malt first quickly followed by earthy, spicy hops which smell yummy.

Taste: Here the roles reverse with hops front, middle and end. The brewer claims aggressive hopping and they aren't just being descriptive. Hops don't take over, they dominate from the start and never let go. Malt serves as the wheelbarrow carrying a load of hops. Malt pokes it's head up at the end only to be stomped down by a mouth puckering hop finish.

Texture: Medium, appearances aside this won't be mistaken for a light weight.

Overall: This brew suffers from the abundance of hops because it's a trumpet stuck on one note. Whether or not it's a good note or well played it remains just the single one. It's an ok brew if you don't care for high hop levels and a better one if you do.

 

Work project much later today, so morning will consist of beer--floral and juicy.

Fattin' up the cast iron skillet a bit more. Also, I swear, Prairie consistently has some of the worst looking beers*, and yet somehow they're always tasty.

*I've only had beers from their Bomb line. Most of which lack any sort of head/aesthetic at all.

 

Good morning BA'ers! Finished a 24 hour shift, got home, opened the fridge and this little gem was looking too delicious to pass up... Other Half Suparillo. Cheers!
