Today is our baby's 20th birthday. He's taking a summer course at College of the Atlantic, so we'll be driving up to Bar Harbor to celebrate with him. Starting the day with an old favorite.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I am going out to ride Mohican mtb trail later on. It's a 24 mile loop with about 2400 feet of climbing. I am going to meet a friend out there, he wants to do a double loop; but there is no way I would be able to handle that. I am completely spent after 1 loop and it usually takes me 3.5 hours to do it every time I've been there so far. Fairly technical with a lot of massive switchbacks, boulders, roots etc.

    Beers this morning:

Just got a fresh 4 pack. Flavors of bright grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, dank pine, herbal, floral, and grassy hop; with some light caramel/bready malt balance; and a sticky resinous pine/citrus rind dry bitter finish. Always incredible! Wow, I am definitely stocking up on this batch; unreal.

2016 batch is tasting amazing! Flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and light dark fruits. Bittersweet balanced medium-full bodied finish; creamy/silky/slick with light chalky roast notes. Lightly warming finish, with zero boozy barrel notes. Great malt/barrel balance. I definitely think this years batch was an improvement over last year. Glad I got multiple 4 packs.

September 2014 batch. Amazing as usual. Flavors of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, toasted oak, bourbon, coconut, and light chocolate; with moderate raisin, plum, fig, and date fruits; with light hints of leather, tobacco, and herbal notes. Touch of drying bourbon/oak spice. Creamy/silky medium-full body mouthfeel. Insanely smooth. Fantastic flavor balance, everything is pretty much perfectly integrated right now. Definitely one of my top favorite cellar beers to buy every year, as with most of Founders stuff. Still have a few '14s left and plenty of '15.

Up and at 'em. A nice night of sleep, that was until the cats saw us moving. Oh well, might as well have a morning stout, as it's actually not too warm yet to make that seem like a bad idea. Plus we have to get beer out of the fridge before a new one arrives:

Interesting enough, don't think I've ever had anything hopped with comet before. Plenty of grapefruit and spice. Yeast sediment floating around towards the bottom.

Good morning BAs! It's starting off a little chilly here in NW PA but otherwise it looks pretty nice. Today's breakfast beer here on New Beer Saturday:

No coconut found and very fizzy so one and done. Since the bottle is undated maybe the store inadvertently aged it and that's why the coconut has morphed into carbon dioxide. Or not. Have a great holiday everyone!

    Growler of Carton Rickey.

Cherry lime Sour Ale. Ok this is last night but i feel i need to share this because it was a great beer. The cherry and lime were so well blended. Looking for the juniper i can smell a bit of a gin like quality but other than that its not noticable to me, maybe just a placebo effect knowing its in there. Tart and sour enough with no long lasting lingering and it didn't destroy the tongue. Overall such a well put together beer that it all melded together balancing perfectly because you can still get some of the malt characters too. Ive only had about 10 sour beers but this one is tops for being so balanced yet sour. And as it warmed and i drank the second and partial third glass it sort of changed and got a bit more easy going, the cherry popped more and i had no idea it was 7% Until i stood up and i was feeling it. I was a bit skeptical because im a bit picky with sour beers because i dont like over bearing sour and taste bud damage but this was not the case and proof that every beer deserves a shot.

    @augiecarton
Thank you for creating this beer. It was awesome.

Breakfast begins with Deschutes Black Butte Porter. I still have not resolved photos issues. More Summerfest today. Blue Oyster Cult at 4, then Alamama Shakes, and Chris Stapleron starting at 7:30. Cheers from Milwaukee!

Helped a friend move yesterday, shared a few afterwards. Started with a sip
    [IMG]

Then a rare barrel (I thought it smelled like a salon, but it tasted great!)

    Then a little Huna
    [IMG]

    Then a lil Gose

Finished off the bunch with one I brought back from Charleston

What a great evening of moving a few pieces of furniture and sharing great craft beers! Another shot of our favorite local beach here. Even though it's in the middle of the city, we rarely have to share it with anyone.

Southern Prohibition 2016 IPA Cicada Series
    5.4%, heavy hoppiness
    [IMG]

Appearance: Lighter hazy shade of gold with fine white bead and very good lacing.

Aroma: Strong heavy hops, like a dark forest floor where some nicely scented plants are growing.

Taste: Relativity full flavor of hops with emerging notes of pine, citrus zest and something a bit floral. Malt is there with a touch of richness but mostly as a carrier for the hops. No sweetness and hops getting stronger toward the finish which leaves a lingering bitter aftertaste. Hop City for those who wish to reside there.

Texture: Rather past medium bordering on full.

Overall: Part of their Cicada Series of limited brews. I get where they're going but next time I'm taking a different bus.

Jealous. :slight_frown: Not the beer, but the opportunity to see your son. I must wait two weeks to see mine. Those of us with kids away at school will have to live vicariously through you this weekend. Do us proud, pops! :grinning:

BTW, the only reason I'm not likewise jealous of the beer is because I have two of my own chilling in the fridge. Cheers!
