Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Weather is looking great for today, probably going to ride Lakeshore park trails for a few hours, haven’t been there in a year or two. Beer this morning:

Excellent English winter warmer. Big flavors of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, pear, apple, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toasted biscuit, and light nutty/roast maltiness; with moderate herbal, floral, pepper, piney hop notes; with a bit of yeasty earthiness. Light-medium pine/spicy bitterness; with a very smooth finish with balanced creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. This keeps getting better and better with more age. Perfectly balanced between malt, yeast, and hop flavors now, after 9 months of age. It still sits on the shelf in some places, so I keep buying more.

Glad these are back in MI. Incredible IPA as usual. Flavors of bright grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with honey/biscuit/light caramel malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Medium pine/rind bitterness; balanced sticky/resins and light creaminess in the mouthfeel. Moderate dryness, highly drinkable, zero hop astringency. Classic juicy C hops with just enough malt character for bitterness balance. I love it. Bear Republic has been in my fridge constantly since they finally came back. I hope we see some of their specialty bombers soon. All of their year round 6 packs are fantastic beers.

Still tasting excellent! Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, caramel malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine/citrus rind and roasty bitterness; sticky/resinous finish with moderate balancing creaminess in the mouthfeel. This is a really aggressive Black IPA for sure. Chinook and Centennial hops bring on the resins, with a nice malty presence on the backbone, while still letting the hops be the main focus. Holding up extremely well for being bottled in September. Still worth buying more singles for sure.

Fantastic batch this year. Flavors of huge dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, bourbon, oak, and light dark fruit. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with a really great balance of the coffee/cocoa, malt, and barrel flavors; along with roasted coffee bitterness/sweetness after the finish. Medium-full bodied with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel. This version is almost like a poor man’s KBS, and is nearly just as satisfying. Still need to review the Raspberry Lemon, but I have loved all of the variations so far. Chai and Raspberry are my top favorites. I hope they keep releasing more variations.

Trying to find ANY excuse to not do this, but the cons (the look of the yard) far outweigh the pros (I'm lazy) for letting the yard fend for itself any longer.

Appearance: Medium yellow with white cap and moderate lacing.

Aroma: Bitter hops and sweet malt.

Taste: Malt, a hint of sweetness, hops more rounded than sharp followed by a lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste. I like the first 75% of the taste but the hop ending is a body blow that put this guy on the canvas. Up to that point the flavors of malt and hops are working well together then it all comes crashing down. The brewery calls it "a bold hop finish" which is one way of putting it.

    Texture: Medium

Overall: A fairly well thought out beer that ends up hitting a hop wall which is bitter rather than bold. What starts out as somewhat complex unravels like a rops diminishing down to loose ends. Too bad, it had promise.

Good morning all. Awoke at usual 5:30, and went back to sleep. Spent the last 1/2 hour letting the coffee warm up - 3 Floyds 'Wig Splitter' Coffee Stout:

Strong roast coffee aroma, not as strong coffee taste. Medium lite mouthfeel, more to the lite end. Some bitterness from the roast.
