Second Self is the third brewery to use the Maverick and Gose name for a beer and their labels were a lot more creative.

    Sorry, 4th.
no good beer pun name is original any longer.
    They've all been done.

You have a point about puns and beer names, which is why you have to respect La Cumbre's approach with their award-winning lager.

I do not like it. Nor respect it.
I bet they thought they were being cheeky. Then again, I used to be into the comedic stylings of Jim Carrey. How times, comedy and creativity have changed.

I found it really funny when I saw the article discouraging samplers at breweries directly under an ad for a Beer Advocate sponsored beer festival.

I know that your point was to put samplers in different glasses rather than remove them completely, but in my experiences the issues that samplers face are pretty much identical to those that you see at beer festivals.

Note: We use 10oz drinkware these days at our fests.

Thanks for the article on bike trails. That sign at Old Ox has been a welcome sight for me on a couple of rides. Glad to see this is also happening elsewhere.

Glad you liked it. Got any other favorite bike trail breweries in Maryland or Virginia that we missed?

Caboose in Vienna, Va is adjacent to the same trail, and is lovely with decent beers. New District in Arlington is not visible from the trail, but is quite close, has done events with BikeArlington, and I think has released at least one bike themed beer.

Enjoyed the Pedals and Pints article! Had me wishing I was back in the DC area again. For more bike trail breweries, there's a guy who created a site called BikeableBrews that is a listing of breweries and good beer establishments within a short distance of several DC/MD/VA bike trails. I used his data to create some brewery trail maps to make it easier to figure out what places are right around you at any point on the trails.

The W&OD for example has ~ 50 brewery/bar/restaurants serving good beer just off the trail. Thought it might be useful for those who enjoy a good pint while out for a ride.

Thanks for sharing; this looks like a handy resource. Any future plans to add more maps?

More maps for the DC/MD/VA area or more maps for other areas? The current maps rely on somebody else to do the research since I'm up north now, but I was thinking about doing some Boston area trails, e.g. Minuteman Bikeway, Charles River Bike Path, Mass Central Rail Trail, etc. Because who doesn't like beer location research :grinning:
