Nothing like some acid in the morning...acid jazz, that is.

    Happy midpoint, ad-vo-cats.

One of my favorites from Wisconsin:

Bourbon and tootsie roll nose while admiring a creamy tan head atop a dark brown ale with ruby see through. Semi sweet caramel malt, bourbon and a bit of oak bite on the finish. Medium body, almost rich. I like a lot and believe the 9.5% pushes this beer past Dirty Bastard as the standard bearer.

Storms are coming today and Mrs. Zombies and I need to finish packing our bags for our next adventure. Cheers from St. Pete!

    Hi folks!
Inspired by the awesome 750 Saison thread courtesy @zid I am indulging in THE Saison DuPont. My first time trying it. I have always loved saisons and am so glad to read that thread and THEN tried this beer. It's like learning art a long time and waiting to finally see the Mona Lisa.
Crisp, grassy, spicy, ever so slightly tart in a very refreshing way, some green apples and perfect dry finish demanding another sip of the awesome ride.
The sheer balance between all the components is unreal. Nothing is dominating except the sheer craft with which this is made.
    Cheers. [IMG]

After the phenomenonally delicious saison I move on to this kinda unknown local English style brown ale from Atlantic brewing in Bar Harbor. Real Ale, they call it.
    Bollocks, I say!!!
Well, maybe it is that good straight from the tank. But being bottled and shipped to the frontiers of Northern Maine in Aroostook county, where I picked it up, changed it a tad.
All the English character faded and the damn French took over (Aroostook: Presque Isle is dangerously close to Canada and the people there speak with an almost rural French accent.) The fine people of Aroostook took it for a Biere de garde and decided to "keep it" on the shelves.
Sadly I taste what could have been a fine English brown ale. Mild faint whiffs of the English yeast and and a light caramel taste with a watery body.
Ah well. At least they tried and cried to Save the real ale.
    Cheers. [IMG]

The story of my golf game this year has been one step forward, two steps back. Today was a two step back day. Happy to hit the 19th hole, where I had SA Oktoberfest.

Home now continuing the Oktoberfest theme.

That's what I had heard when I decided to buy it. Probably buying it in Aroostook was a mistake. And maybe even following it after the DuPont was a bigger. I will most certainly give them another chance next time I am in Bar Harbor.
