Plough Monday • Organic Brown Ale

 

Iowa was already my favorite State in the Union but following all the awesome beers I keep finding here it is slowly reaching legendary status. Normally I hate it when strong smelling herbs are added to Saisons but add some Brett to the equation and all is good again: Crooked Stave Wild Sage Brett Saison. I have to get some more of this.

Got no idea what makes this a "Belgian Style Scotch Ale" because it's easier to be ignorant and flummoxed than to bother making the keystrokes to log onto the website and attain enlightenment.

Good morning virtual bar patrons! Taking a little break this morning after a fulfilling weekend. It's going to be another hectic week here, so another reason to stop and smell the beer! This 10/19/15 bottle smells and tastes fine. It is still quite hot, but there is a slight hint of cherry before the heat hits. I know there have been discussions about these Oddside barrel aged bottles, so take that for what it's worth. It may be heading downhill? One more out of the fridge for me.

Liquid gold cheer, perfect way to liven up a gray overcast wet morning. Feel like I'm in Seattle minus the awesome coffee and PNW food (cedar plank grilled wild salmon...)

I see the breakfast stout is on the menu for a few of us. Goes perfectly with this rainy autumn morning. Nice to see after all these muggy 90+ degree days!

My first go around with this oatmeal stout from Warped Wing. Its solid if unspectacular.

 

Enjoyed an early birthday dinner and beer last night, after we got home from the beach. Had a fresh sausage, sauerkraut, stone ground mustard, on a pretzel roll. The green stuff is zucchini (not my choice).


You didn't think I would let y'all get away without any beach pics did you?!

Finally, the paper back home decided to run a photo of me throwing, for the Charleston Scottish Games. This was actually back in 2013, not sure why they used it, but I'll take it!
