Hey NBSers, I feel like I'm a little behind on my MWK duties thanks to my traveling lately. So I'm going to fix that tonight. I left late today because it was too nice a day to leave my family. I got into the hotel, did a quick run and now I'm enjoying a beer and some football.

@WesMantooth, I confess I have transported this beer between Little Rock and Fayetteville for four straight weeks now. I promised myself it would be my first beer this week. I shouldn't have waited. This is outstanding. Oh, and for the record, I will never cheer for Ohio, but the only thing better than them losing is having their first loss of the season come against the Wolverines. I was really looking forward to that undefeated matchup. The rest of the season will be very interesting.

Poured from a one pint can into a 16 ounce tulip. Pours a dark tan with orangish tint, d expected from a strong ale. The head is unreal - tan, thick, slow, and leaving amazing lacing. The nose screams with hops. Tons of orange immediately with some raisin/plum underneath. Great use of dry hopping. The taste accents the raisin, plum, fig flavor complimented perfectly by the citrus hop flavor. There is some lingering bitterness on the finish. The mouthfeel is carbonated but smooth with no hint of the 7.7% abv. Overall, this beer is outstanding. I can see why it's their flagship. It's incredibly well balanced and very easy to drink.

    Mosaic melee!!

The only one of the three that is actually new to me is the one with which I am leading here: Mosaic Wet Hop from Three Magnets.

Clear copper/amber body with a big ol' pillowy white head.
During the pour, the first thing I note is a bit of earthiness that soon gives way to an overwhelmingly marijuana-esque depth when I stick my nose into the glass. I'm evidently in the minority here, but the nose on this is just straight up a massive bag of super fresh bud, of the dark dank variety. I actually got up and checked my window to make sure there wasn't just someone smoking right outside my apartment. Surprised me with that.

Flavour has a decent amount of that deep green weed to it, but also some sweet caramel and the sweet juicy note that is so indicative of the fresh hops.

Creamy smoothe and easy to drink. Earthy finish.

My final rankings in this melee of Mosaic-made mixtures gives the advantage to the above reviewed beverage, followed by the Fremont F2F and a distant third is the Pale Mosaic. Maybe not totally fair considering the other two are fresh hop and the Texan offering is not, but even still it is a notable step below in my estimation.

    Cheers!

And this game needs to go differently for REAL.

Bro. Woody's New OktoBierFest Sunday (Week TBD)

I'm back! Phew. What an interesting day it has been, filled with NFL football and German-inspired biers.

I began with an organic rendition of the style:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/13884/134861/?ba=woodychandler#review

then I turned my focus local, first east with:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/345/1017/?ba=woodychandler#review

    then west with:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17034/52998/?ba=woodychandler#review

followed by south & west with:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/68/19651/?ba=woodychandler#review

I lost my bearings and suddenly turned northeast for a stop in Brooklyn:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/45/570/?ba=woodychandler#review

before heading up the east coast for a brief interlude:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/688/6756/?ba=woodychandler#review

and then I (sort of) heeded Horace Greeley's advice and headed to the Midwest, first with:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/73/13896/?ba=woodychandler#review

and then I followed Bob Dylan's advice and brought it all back home to my adopted Midwest with:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/741/5758/?ba=woodychandler#review

I may come away from this with my first hangover in a while, but it was certainly an interesting endeavor. See yinz next Sunday with more misadventures!

 Muhlen Kolsch was a major want for me.

I had family visiting Cologne Germany and I was fortunate that they were willing to bring some back for me.

I could barely wait for this beer to chill in my fridge.

It's a pretty clear gold. There's a malt richness that hits you right upfront (relative to the style). There's a little DMS, and a very moderate hop presence. The body is really great... very soft.

It's a little strange to desire a beer... trouble people to carry it over an ocean snuggled in some suitcase clothing... and then drink it down so fast. Perhaps it would be more respectful of me to sit with it and contemplate it, but it just goes down really easy. Why fight its nature?

Late Night NBS checking in here from SE Mass where fall weather seems firmly entrenched. Classy kickoff post from @utopiajane , and I have to thank @cavedave for the kind words later in the thread.

We had a pretty lazy weekend overall. Yesterday we did spend some time with the aquariums at the high school, moved one tank, basic maintenance on another. But we mostly kicked back after that. After church we made a big pot o' turkey chili and waited for the Pats game...

Jeez...couldn't remember what I am drinking for a second. Today's offering is Wicked Weed Lunatic Blonde, a 6.5% Belgian Pale Ale. The pour is very slightly hazy, a somewhat dark gold. Nice head that is cream colored, falls to a persisten 1/8 or so inch ring with great cling on the glass. The aroma is pretty potent, or at least noticable. Floral, green, fruity, a bit peppery, and it has a sweet smell of biscuits. Some other fruity note, maybe green apple or white grape. Pretty pleasant on the nose. The taste essentially follows...no surprises. There is certainly a sweet note, then the typical contributions you would expect in the style, nice spicy note. Not getting banana but a little bubble gum kinda flavor. As it warms, a little bitterness creeps in which is helping balance the ledger. Pretty clean and light feel, medium on the dryness, nice carbonation.

Overall a good beer, feeling it is pretty true to the style, well made, good flavor, nice balance. This will land in the 3.8 range for me.

    Well, another week awaits...

    Cheers, kids!

Pours a big, creamy mocha head which dissipates down to a ring within a few minutes with nice lacing. Nose mostly of cinnamon, with vanilla and cocoa. Taste follows nose and brings the heat from the chili peppers. Luxurious coating of mouth. Overall, I will be sharing the next one!

Ahhh. I did enjoy that one a little more than you (understatement). Now as a salad fan I must admit, I'd be pretty disappointed with a salad beer. Sorry Dave. But, you made me laugh, and I'm sure a few others as well.

Wow, a busy weekend. But 2 things made it a lot better. Both were from @Hopgoddess312 in the chaos better known as NBS BIF #4 Monkeys With Knives.

The wife and I enjoyed a Wig Splitter from 3 Floyds.
So creamy on the mouthfeel. But it also does a fine job of being a bit sweet and a bit roasty.

After that, we capped the evening with Off Color's Coffee Dinsmores.
Nearly black in color. Roasted coffee notes waft up from my new 3 Floyds Teku. (3rd thing I should say). Roasted coffee notes pull make enough for a subtle toasted marshmallow sweetness to come through. Awesome!

Sixpoint has remained one of my favorite NY breweries for several years now. Between their slick, sleek, and sexy cans, their obsession with hoppy beers, and their excellent customer service, they continue to remain one of the best breweries in NY, even when pitted against such juggernauts as Grimm Artisanal Ales, Other Half, and Singlecut. They're like the Stone of the Northeast.

Cheers you all and a Happy Monday Morning to you! Once again you all have made Sunday the best day of the week with your reviews pics and your bad selves. Cheers to you and let's do this again next week. We should go over to WBAYDN when they close this.
