Current process or random are the only 2 rational ways I think of determining who gets variants if indeed we all get a variant again this year. Allotments per group would create huge lines with people lining up early for their sessions just like somebody else stated.

Does anyone realize this is Mothers Day Weekend? If I want a divorce from my wife and my own moms guilt look, I might be able to go! Damn no chance in hell to go again!!!

I get that it's an issue for the people planning to spend a night or two in Indiana, but it's on Saturday, so technically you can still get your mothering in on the proper day (albeit potentially while you're hungover).

    It's Mother's Day, not Mother's Weekend....

As a mother, I think celebrating the day at a beer festival sounds divine. Hell...I was 6 months pregnant when I went last year and had to stand in the freezing ass cold and rain. At least this year I can drink!

what are the few very important things a first timer going to DL day would need to know and what is the best advice. I live about an hour and 30 mins from the brewery.

    1) keep an eye on their social media for ticket sales info. It was early March last year, no idea with the date change.

    2) Be prepared for shitty weather. History suggests that it may rain blood.

    3) Bring a large bag for beer.

    4) Bring beer.

    5) Try not to get so drunk that you struggle to stand at 2 PM.

Also: keep an eye on your own beer. Sounds like it's turned into a den of thieves there if you leave your things unattended.

How does parking/transportation work? If you can't really drive your own car and park close, how does anyone have the means to carry a bunch of stuff to the event.

Obviously I could keep going. That would be on there, as well as drink water, eat something, sharing etiquette, ect.

I was definitely paranoid once I got my allotment.

There are shuttles from a few places. Uber. Understanding and awesome significant others/family members/friends.

There is some parking in the area, but I don't know how people are in any shape to drive after the chaos.

I took a shuttle from the city (Chicago). Had a backpack full of beer on the way there...drank nearly all of it (as well as traded some for other bottles/cans), then brought it back full with the bottles I acquired at DLD.

If you're really going to enjoy DLD and bottle share and drink a lot, I don't think driving is a good option.

Agreed, especially because there are cop checkpoints, aren't there (unofficial or official)?

The only reason I take a car to DLD is that my girlfriend doesn't drink nearly as much beer as I do, so she gets to be the DD, and I finish most of her beers after she takes the first few sips.

    It's a lot of responsibility.

I doubt there are any checkpoints. I will tell you a story from last year.

I drove to DLD and parked in one of the biggest lots near the venue. Parking was something like $20 and you could park overnight. There must have been enough room to hold 100 cars in that lot.

I came back to the lot at about 6:45 am the following morning. My car was one of two in the whole lot! Some lots were completely empty!

I will let you decide if you think all those other parties all had designated drivers.

Seriously people! Park your fucking car overnight. Do not drink and drive!

I've only heard from others on BA that there are checkpoints; I've never seen nor been stopped by police coming to or leaving DLD.

Every year, this topic comes up in the thread. Just don't drive, and if you are too cheap to pay the $20, get over to Reggies and ride for free.
