Hi BA's (from Northern Cali). I'll be staying in Bellevue and taking the 550 bus into southern Seattle for brewery fun. Where should I go which will be open these two days? Please tell me the stop I should take and I'm happy to meet other BA's.

I own a winery in California and am happy to meet wine people who like beer such as myself.

550 will only take you downtown to a little past the Westlake Center. So you will need to take another bus if you want to get to the better beer locations in Seattle. The Pine Box is a short walk from the last stop and Cloudburst isn't too far of a walk either.

Thanks Sea. We can Uber but can walk to Pine Box and Cloudburst too - are those taphouses or breweries?

Cloudburst is a brewery and Pine Box is a craft beer bar. There is also Pike Brewing and Old Stove Brewing near Pike Place Market. Pike is so so and I've never been to Old Stove.

Is Matt Lincecum (owner of Fremont) related to Tim?

Take 550 to Westlake. Walk down to 3rd & Pine and get on the Rapid Ride D which goes directly to Holy Mountain. After that, continue on the Rapid Ride D which puts you a couple blocks from Reuben's (and Stoup and Lucky Envelope for that matter).

From there, you can catch the 40 east. That will drop you off a couple blocks from Fremont (and also Brouwer's Cafe). Then get back on the 40 until you finish your little loop back near Westlake, go down into the tunnel and get back on the 550.

That is probably the easiest loop if you don't want to go too crazy with public transportation, and gets you to what is likely the three most recommended breweries.

I don't believe so, but let's just ask him; @Texwild , yay or nay?

Uh, no. Not in any real way but our families may have a thread in Oklahoma before the Dust Bowl. You could ask him also

Ok So I did visit Fremont and Holy Mountain on 12/26. No pretenses; I just wanted to have some good beers.
First off, I not only went to Fremont and Holy Mountain - I also went to Pike Place and Hale's Ales. Pike Place was on the way and Hale's Ales was for a dinner break. Hale's Ales Grapefruit IPA was serviceable and their fish and chips were really good. The Pike BA stout was good.
    Back to Fremont.
La Premiere - for a Brett IPA not too funky. Had good hoppiness and no barnyard or 'animale' component but showed some funk.
    B-Bomb: similar to bcbs
Coffee Cinna B-Bomb: loved it, would have loved a bit more coffee. I wish I could have bought some bottles, which were available, but I didnt check at the airport. I did really enjoy this.
Overall, I really liked the ambience and energy. It was a fun place. I can see why Fremont has the reputation that it has. Well done, Fremont.
Later in the night we got to Holy Mtn.
    Scryer's Throne: properly funky
King's Head: sweet and bourbony for a brown ale, appreciated
Overall, this didn't have the nice atmosphere that Fremont did. It had a hipster vibe that, as a Sacramento beer enthusiast, I can appreciate. Just not quite as nice and I know you gotta pay for location that's the reality.

Lastly I went to Woodenville for some wine tasting (the next day). Went to a few but Mark Ryan Winery makes some seriously awesome legit wines. Ageable, intense wines I wish I could have taken back with me like the CC Bombs. Syrah was super nice and the Merlot/Cabernet blends (there were several of different proportions) were also super nice. Not only were the wines massive but the interior decor was spot on.

Kudos Washington! Your beers and wines are on point as I knew they were and can't wait to do it again!
