Haven't had this yet, but judging from pics it doesn't look pale at all...

Hopefully we don't receive another 'Virginia Brewery Prototype' whenever this hits the east coast, everything I've had from that facility has been sub par (for Stone).

How many Stone beers have you had from RVA?

    Cheers!

I for one am happy to see Pale Ale 2.0 go. I was a much bigger fan of the original, 2.0 didn't do it for me. I've enjoyed all the other 2.0 beers better than the originals, for some reason the Pale Ale 2.0 just fell short.

Excited to see this in Minnesota.

We can count on Greg & Stone to provide us with new great beers so I'm confident if Ripper Pale Ale doesn't make it across the country, they'll have some other great hoppy beer on the horizon in 2017 that will.

PS: Pale Ale 2.0 I thought was very good/great for a pale ale. I'm guessing it didn't sell well because they priced it higher than most all other shelf/store available pale ales. It was darn good hoppy beer under 6% but it wasn't quite at the Born Yesterday level of greatness for a pale ale on store shelves and yet was priced about that same area (well above most all other pale ales at least in MD that I saw).

I thought the Enjoy by Unfiltered was quite delicious but can't recall how it compared in taste to the Unfiltered I had 9+ months ago from CA. Only thing I can say was it didn't seem as hazy in appearance as I remember. That's only one I've had so far out of Richmond.

[IMG] I bought a sixer of this in cans today packaged 12/15/16. To me this is not going to be what many may expect (IE: modern pale ale in a Trillium, Proclamation etc). This has a more traditional (English style some may say) malt base- more caramel - you'll notice by the color immediately. Personally I really enjoyed the balance with a bit more modern day hops.

Had a can last night and was not impressed. Was high on the bitterness and malt with minimal actual hop flavor. The hop flavor that was there was of the more piney, grassy type with just about no citrus quality. Not recommended.

Just saw it on the shelf in Cincinnati. Considered it, but figured I'll have plenty of time to catch it.

The 2 that were labeled Prototype (EB 12.25.16 and IPA) and an IPA that was not labeled as a Prototype, I'm not too sure if anything else has been distributed from RVA.

Yes. Overly bitter without much hop flavor, could have just been me as it was just one bottle at a restaurant.

A few months ago I had a draft pint of Stone IPA v1.1 at a restaurant in Philadelphia. I assume it was brewed in RVA due to proximity. FWIW my draft Stone IPA v1.1 was nothing like you described. It had a very nice hop nose and was not overly bitter.

Maybe just a case of differing palates?

    Cheers!

Sippin' a Rippa' as I type. While not the most appealing beer visually in todays beer world it definitely has a solid, crisp, hoppy taste that I'm enjoying. Not really getting the juicy description though, which is a-ok with me. Tasty pale for sure.

Picked this up today, packaging and cans look great. Canned 12/16.

Can't believe how dark this beer is. Can't really think of another pale ale this dark, and it's surprising coming from Stone. Aroma is probably the best part of this beer, heavy on Cascade. Tastes good, mouthfeel is great. Overall, a solid beer. But I'm not rushing out to buy more. I'd hate to see how this beer tastes 2-3 months old.

Picked up a six pack of cans in Missouri last night. I almost ordered a can online when I heard it was Cali only. So glad I got a whole 6 pack of it. I'll rip into one tonight
