I guess it depends on your equipment whether you need them or not.I had to stop using them when i found out they were creating a dam inside the ball valve. No more problems since i stopped adding them and that was even using 5 lbs wheat in one recipe.

What percentage of the grist was wheat? I am looking at %50-%70 for a wheat wine. And probably a lot of huell melon too. :grinning:

The Yeast Bay threw in a free vial of their original Saison Blend when I ordered from them last. I'll be brewing up a simple 1.50 OG Pilsner/Czech Saaz SMaSH for it in the next few weeks

Brewing this weekend. Doing 10 gallons of my house Brett IPA. Got a brand new bag of Vienna Malt, fresh CTZ and Nugget pellets, and a starter ready to rock. Brand new CFC wort chiller as well. Hoping to rock this thing in epic time and get a much better BH eff with the new chiller. Been a couple months since I brewed last, supply is very low.

Bottled my first batch this morning. Used the brewers best milk stout kit. Will likely do my 2nd brew day after this is done bottle conditioning.

When you brew, you should post pics of the CFC in action. I'd love to see the finished product!

For sure. I need to get a final piece today to hook up the garden hose quick disconnects. Other than that it is ready to go. Fit the wort line with camlocks and the out port runs through a T with a dial thermometer for output temp.

Planning to brew the first of the year this weekend. Trying to decided between a Pale Ale that I want to make "my" base Pale Ale, and a Oat Stout, again that I want to be more "my" base Stout (just with a good hunk of flaked oats in it but you get what I mean, I hope). Was planning on doing a Hefeweizen, but don't think my house will be warm enough for the yeast. Can't do all grain yet... Inside burners not enough BTU, the new 10gal brew kettle will have to wait..... Hopefully my out door burn has enough for the warmer months.

Would like to brew up an IPA maybe, but not sure if it's going to happen...

Just brewed the Stout. Used the wort chiller I got for my 10 gal kettle, even though I only did a partial mash. Pitching yeast in about 10 minutes is much better then what I was doing.

Just kegged a gooseberry milkshake IPA. Doing to sit on another couple ounces of mosaic hops in the keg, but should be good to go in a couple of days. So damn tasty.

Pulled my first hydro reading of my pils brewed a week ago. Currently at 1.013 from 1.047. Target is 1.008. Giving it another week before a D-rest (don't need it, but I need the fermenter chamber for a cream ale a few days before lagering!).

Very unsexy weekend at the office, PBW and Starsan treatment to 5 kegs and a fermentor. Plus cleaned two beer lines on the kegerator. The dirty truth behind homebrewing.

Kegged my Pale Ale, it is now dry hopping and will be tapped on Thursday night. I'm also going to be tapping my Belgian Golden Strong Ale as well. All taps will be pouring but I'll have two empty kegs and no time to brew for a while.

Finished brewing 15 gallons of 'None More Sessionable' for the rye whiskey barrel. Also pulled some samples of my raspberry lambic (currently ~2 years old), which I added some more raspberries to, and my sour blonde fermented with dregs from a RR Deviation bottle. That's currently 16 months old and has been sitting on peaches for over a year and finally just started souring. Added more peaches tonight.
