I'll be staying in downtown Seattle for a few nights (feb 16-21) and was wondering if there were any decent releases this week or good places to load up on some beer to bring home? Love to try some hops from the area, also looking for some stouts (imperial/BA if any). Thanks in advance for any help!
Start here first, and ask questions (here) later: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-seattle-winter-2017-update.479377/ No offense whatsoever, we just like to limit thread bloat...
Well, about the only places that do "releases" in Seattle are Holy Mountain and Fremont. Not sure if either of them have anything on the radar though.
Not bad selections but all of them a large corporate chains that don't usually have the most inspiring selections. From downtown, my choices would be Collins, Cloudburst, Pinebox and then a road trip north to Holy Mountain. Brave Horse is also not hard to get to from downtown. If you're feeling inspired, head up to Reuben's and then you'll have at least 10 other breweries and pubs within walking distance. Lot of options, and as EdwardAbbey suggested, take a look a the master thread on this topic.
The One Who Remains Sickly is our resident troll who pops up from time to time. Feel free to poke him with a stick.
Check yo' self, gangsta. I came to your defense. That's probably the best you can expect at this point. Declare victory and leave the field. Know what I'm saying? Don't poke the bear. He has claws.
Perfectly safe behind your laptop or phone, and a shroud of anonymity, I don't doubt it, but it's not a fucking pissing contest or mano-a-mano war. That isn't what this site, or life, is about. Not being preachy or schoolmarm-ish, just laying out facts. Unsolicited advice (reprised): just aim to be cool, help others out, or at least entertain, even subversively, in a way that isn't (consistently) dick-ish and/or liable to rub many the wrong way. Is that really too much to ask? Whatever you decide, I've said my piece with you for the last time.
I'm a resident, and initially I thought you were serious as well (though of course your recommendations made no sense). Someone from Wisconsin, who maybe has never been here before, would almost certainly think you were serious (outside of Pyramid, I'll wager he knows nothing about the taphouse or Henry's). I mean maybe you could have included something in your post that made it clear your post was made in jest (and wasn't serious)? As has been pointed out before, sarcasm often doesn't translate very well on the internet.
I highly recommend the blocking feature. If you "Ignore" someone, you're never even the least annoyed with their latest. It does make threads like this a bit mystifying, of course, but that's a small price.
I liked the joke and kinda think of anyone else made it we wouldn't be seeing this kind of response to it.
Preferring to have faith in people, I wanted to hold off on going this route as long as I could. But there are now two odious trolls currently living in Washington that I have completely given up on. I just wish one of them didn't have the nuclear codes. But that's just it: it wasn't anyone else. You earn the right to make jokes like that by not always making jokes like that or, in this case, typically behaving in ways that are even less helpful and respectful. Besides, there's a time and place...OP was just looking for a little useful advice from locals. He couldn't have just given it, for once in his life? Anyway, now back to our regular programming...
quick! someone make an alternative visiting seattle thread with the only suggestion being a henrys > pyramid > taphouse bar crawl.
