This is a quick question. I've completed a trade with someone, I met with his gf and completed my part while he was supposed to ship on his end. I've been receiving the run around for a few weeks now, and that begs the question, how long should I wait before I call the other guy out on it?

I don't think there's a set answer to your question, but would suggest you take a look at some of the previous BT threads in the BT forum to get a feel for how other members have handled your type of situation.

I do have a few questions however.

You mention you keep getting the run around, but it would be helpful if you could be more specific. Is he still communicating with you, and if so, is he providing any explanation for why this is taking so long? Sometimes life does get in the way when it comes to fulfilling one's part of the bargain in a timely manner, and we understand that. However, if your trading partner won't respond to your information requests, or he's unwilling or unable to provide an explanation for what the problem is (and when he expects the matter can be resolved), then that's a concern.

Posting your story in the BT forum should really be a last resort, so at this point I think I would still try to resolve this amiably between the two of you (as long as the lines of communication are still open). Good luck.

You need to provide a lot more details to be able to answer this. Once you do you will get enough responses on what to do next.

I'm not looking to start a bad trader thread. So when I first executed the trade, the other guy said he would send out on Monday. I asked for tracking when he shipped on Wed, and received an I was real busy and will ship out next Monday response. The following Tuesday I reached back out and it was the same excuse, and "I'll ship next Monday" response as well. Same deal with the following week.

I'm trying to understand how long I should proceed with someone that is seemingly busy all the time.

Did you use the trade system?

This is on FB, I have plenty of documentation of everything though. Plus I don't want to publicly shame someone who will eventually make good.

Ummm... that's certainly the impression I got (and I think you gave) when you asked how long you should wait before "calling him out on it."

My recommendation would be to express your appreciation that he's staying in touch with you, express your understanding and sympathy that he's very busy, but that you're just trying to get an idea when he plans to ship, so you'll know what to expect (as after all, you have a life as well, are undoubtedly busy, may go out of town, etc.). I don't think I would make any sort of ultimatum, but I think it reasonable to ask him if he can give you some idea just when he plans to ship the box, just so you can make sure you're around when it's delivered.

Is this guy a member on BA? If not, you are not going to be able to start a bad trader thread here. If he is a member here, you made trade on FB and didn't use trade system here, that is going to be shaky on a bad trader thread.

Putting that aside, although hard to know timing without you providing exact dates, this would be under right conditions time to start a bad trader thread.

Thanks for the perspective man. Sorry for the confusion, I don't plan on making a bad trader thread on BA, it would be on the FB group we're in. I was just trying to feel this one out in a more anonymous fashion.

It sounds like shipping your beer to you is not really on his priority list. Perhaps you should ask the same question in the Facebook group. That will certainly get his attention and just might move you up on his list of priorities.
