It has lasted until early group C before.

Group A is the only group that pretty much guarantees it being available.

Yea I was group b and got a FVM and they were supposedly out of HJs but apparently they "found" some more cases. It was quite the cluster fuck

I will pray each and every night from here until May 13th for descent weather. Not sure I can endure another monsoon.

My buddy and I took the jaks bus the last two years and have no regrets.

However, after doing the math, we're gonna Uber it this year. It's about $35-$40 one way, and if you find 2 other guys that live in the general area, you're paying $20-25 round, which IMO is totally worth it. Especially cause I have to Uber to jaks tap at 7am anyway, and then Uber home from there.

I don't have particulars but I heard someone say they Uber'd back to the city around 6/7pm and it was $100 with the surcharge. Can anyone confirm or correct that?

That could very well be true. But honestly I'm pretty sure my Uber to and from Jaks put me out at least $20 last year, and ditto for my friend. That's $40 we could have happily added to an Uber.

In the past has there been an advantage to buying tickets in person vs. on the website?

Yes, the advantage to in person sales means you missed out online.

    Yes and no.

Prior to the current ticket setup (and last year was the first year with this program), it cost just to get a ticket into the fest. Can't remember exactly what it cost, but maybe $35? Something like that? And that included nothing.

Then, you would pay $20 / DL, and get a scratch off for a chance to spend $50 or maybe $60 on a variant? So, the current pricing is basically baking in the fest entry fee, which has ALWAYS been in place since I'm guessing 2010 (although they said originally that they were going to donate the entry fee to a local charity, which used to be the Humane Society - doubt if that's still the case), and bundling 4 DLs and a variant.

    I call it a wash.

A friend put his totebag on one of the benches in the tent and his variant fell out and shattered. And of course it was a Handjee. Of course.

I can't imagine that feeling. I would need someone to hold me back from licking the glass shards.

I'm not following what your "Yes and no" are. Can you elaborate? It looks like it should be "yes" and "yes."

I guess yes and yes is correct, I was just making the point that once they went to tickets (2010?) it has always cost to get into the fest. I was just trying to clarify.

Do any locals just completely forego trying online at this point and go for the in person sales? I've thought about it, but it seems risky.

It was definitely not in the three figures. I left Three Floyds between 6-7pm last year (approximately 6:45pm IIRC). I grew weary waiting for the Jak's shuttle back to Chicago which wasn't running on schedule. I decided to Uber it back to my hotel (Crowne Plaza) which was two blocks away from the bar where the shuttle drops off. Plus I was tired, drunk, and it was raining. An UberX cost me around $60. We packed three people in there. Worth it.
