The people watching is one of my favorite parts. I make it a point to not drink too much, but I'm definitely in the minority.

I swear that tent looks like the same one where I saw this dude get placed in a chair by two of his friends at about 10:30-11am. He could barely stand and slumped over as soon as he got into the chair. At least he made it until shortly after opening

 

Ha- this is amazing. My group was the guy with the blue poncho and red/white umbrella- I am directly behind him. He really did try to get off that gurney too. There were a handful of people staggering around with one eye open at that point as well.

Remember group B-E, be generous with your bottle shares in line because the more people we can get to pass out before opening, the better our odds of snagging a 'nilla.

Are the nilla" being divided up evenly through all the groups A-E?

 

Nope -- pretty sure it's FCFS, so to have a shot at BVDL (Handjee) you'll probably need to be in group A.

 

It's first come first serve. Very little, if any, is left after group A goes through.

 

This will be my 6th year and only been in group A once. Once Saturday is over this page will turn into a philosophical debate on how first come first served is wrong and the right thing to do is parcel our the vanilla amongst all groups. It will become a shit show for about 25-30 pages.... It's tradition! I cannot wait.

 

You may have a shot in B but I wouldnt bank on it.

 

Last year people said they got HJs in the later groups, the volunteers "found" some more I guess... This has been brought up in this thread at least 3 times now, lol

I don't expect a brewery to kiss my ass because I buy their beer. Do I wish FFF did some things differently as a brewery or with DLD, sure. I also wish Tree House would distro to my suburb and that I could order a keg of Assassin from TG. But whinning and trashing the breweries because I can't get those things would make me sound like a cry baby.

All in all DLD isn't for everyone, and if you don't think or know you won't like it, there's the freedom to NOT GO. What baffles me is this behavior of putting the event, the brewery and people down who do enjoy the beer, the brewery and/or the event.

 

Well said. I actually don't go to DL day anymore, personally, because DL isn't my favorite beer, metal isn't really my thing, and the drunken shit show aspect annoys me more as I get older. But a ton of people love it -- and that doesn't have anything at all to do with enjoying the hell out of PF, ZD, AK, Dreadnaught, etc all year long and recognizing FFF as a fantastic brewery.

 

I was able to get FVM in B group. Right after we got into the fest, I went straight to the B group line.

I did get #1080 something out of 1100 something but ionno if they gave them out in order.

 

I don't think they did. I got in line maybe a half hour before they started letting group B in and I got one. I have no idea what my number was, it got wiped off in the chaos.

FVM was pretty glorious, so I hope that it's not a one-off (not that I'm likely to get one again).
