Alright youse! Up and at 'em! I have no breakfast. Well, I have beer and I guess I'll make some ricotta to go on toast. MORNING! Where is everyone? :stuck_out_tongue:

I am going to write a cook book and one of the most frequently repeated instructions in it will be "drink beer and wait." Cheers!

    What Beer I drank yesterday?
Oberon. SInce it just came out. I had to. About two weeks young, and tasting like it hasn't quite hit the sweet spot yet. A little more yeast in its profile than I remember.

Travel day this afternoon, so starting out light this gloomy morning. Blackrooks' "Grand Rabbits" a dry hopped cream ale, not bad:

    Have a great day y'all!

Like the label says, it's black. I can usually find some highlights in these dark brews but this one's black from top to bottom and side to side. Voluminous Belgian style tan cap with moderate lacing.

Aroma of dark plums and dark cherries. Not the bright red sweet little cherries but the big, bold dark ripe ones. I know there's dark malt in there (natch) and hops but don't really catch either in the scent.

Taste is big and bold, plummy, jammy and rasiny with the cherries still hanging in there. Roast malt coffee like bitterness shows up in the aftertaste as if an afterthought. There is a prickliness in the mouth feel that may be hops or carbonation but I suspect the latter.

Full textured body with balancing carbonation.

Definite alcohol whang in this brew (9%) that isn't apparent in the aroma or flavor. I only noticed after drinking a bit and then it was in effect, not in flavor. Overall it's a fairly simple group of several flavor sensations that harmonize well but don't elevate to brew to the level of complex sophistication. I'm sure the house Guinness fan will like it.

Good morning BAs! Back from the Y and the second load of laundry's getting abused in the washer. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Only an IPA to my taste because of the 7.5% ABV. The 45 IBUs claimed seems like wishful thinking - virtually no hops at all.

    Me too!

I'll be completely honest with you, Maria. I might just look at the pictures and skip right to the "repeated instructions" parts :stuck_out_tongue::grinning:.

So far I've made the oatmeal bread and a Boston cream pie...

...and poured myself a Foundation Afterglow reward.

I've got the chicken thighs in a rum-chili marinade, too, but I won't post a picture of that because, honestly, it looks a little disgusting.

It is a shade of gold but a lighter shade with a diminishing white cap.

Aroma is not very strong, I get some grain along with floral/citrus hops.

Taste like a high end AAL, which, considering wheat and corn are in the mix, is not surprising. It's a good flavor for the type but still not quite so flavorful as, say, Yuengling Traditional. That sounds disparaging I know but I came to those conclusions before looking up the brew on their website and finding the grain bill does include corn. It sorta reminds me of Schlitz back in the 60s.

Medium texture, it does have some body to it, and balancing carbonation.

Overall it's a clean, quality brew that should be suitable for hot weather activities where beer is appropriate. Which for me is just about all of them.

Good morning, and happy Thursday BA's! I can't believe I've actually found the time to do this 2 days in a row :grimacing:...! Speaking of 2 days, I hope everyone is ready and excited for Saturday's event! That's right, only 2 more days until Rock Out With Your Bock Out (Drei)! I know I'm excited. Beer, prizes, and goats :grinning:!!! Alright, you know what time it is. It's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

    GotD:
I think I'll stick with this theme of "2" for today. For the first of the "2" stemless beauties, the GotD goes to my man @Beersnake1 for this proper and wonderful Bottle Logic Stasis Project glass. Cheers and congrats!
2nd: The second stemless gem recieving some love today goes out to @JoeBloe for this excessively gold freckled number.
3rd: Somewhat sticking to the theme (Sort of ), to @Doug537 for this gargantuan fish bowl of a snifter!

Honorable mentions go out to @SomethingClever for getting some excessive use out of this Black Hog Brewing exaggerated new school lager glass :stuck_out_tongue:, and to @TrojanRB for pulling this guy out of the archives, and reminding us what Freedom tastes like .
Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon!

    GotD.

Rain finally ended here around 6am after about 12hrs, now just windy. Thought this @DoctorZombies glass was fitting for the JaiAlai since he drinks it often.
