Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Hoping to get out and find some new beers this afternoon. I am running low again and haven't been down to Livonia in a while. It'll be a good day. Weather is looking nice in the forecast.

Revisit review after 5 years. New recipe and stuff. This was awesome! Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate bready, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light resins and increasing bitter dryness, with zero hop astringency. Zero warming 9.6% ABV. Super drinkable. Definitely less malty and far less aggressively bitter than I remember from the old recipe. Still has really juicy hop vibrancy. Lower rating, but really impressive. Glad I got a 6 pack. 4.15

Wow, this is just as outstanding as I remember. I preferred it after I aged it for a year first from what I remember. Glad I got 2 packs. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate honey, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, and toasted oak barrel/malt balance; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/rind bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; balanced bready/grainy creaminess, sticky hops, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Slight resins and increasing bitter/tannin dryness, with no astringency. Minimal warming 12.4%. Perfectly balanced between DIPA and barrels. Never overly sweet or heavy. They really nailed it with this one.

Very nice Scotch ale. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, leather, peat smoke, brown bread, biscuit, toasted oak, vanilla, raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, apricot, pear, apple, red grape, and light cocoa/nuttiness/salt. Bit of herbal hops. Touch of aroma booze. Light herbal hop/roast bitterness and whiskey/oak tannin spice on the finish against sweetness. Medium-full bodied bready creaminess; lightly slick, sticky, chalky, and tannic. Lightly increasing tannic oak dryness. Very drinkable, minimal warming 9.6%. Not as impressive as I'd hoped for, but still very well made for the style. This has plenty of leathery/peaty scotch and oak presence. Nice well rounded/rich malt complexity, and complimenting yeast fruitiness. Almost finished off the 4 pack. Really delicious.

Still tasting amazing. Flavors of coconut, vanilla, spiced rum, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, oak, and light molasses/coffee. Light roast bitterness and rum/oak spice on the finish. Full-ish bodied with a great creamy/silky mouthfeel; with some light sticky/chalky roast, and a touch of roasted dryness. Lightly warming finish, no barrel booze at all. Very smooth, rich, and complex. Lots of coconut and rum, but still very well balanced with the base beer. Glad I bought a lot of these, still a couple left. Probably my favorite variant they released so far.

Bare Bear Sahti. This is such a fun beer. A Chicago-made Sahti (by Off Color Brewing) with a very intriguing label (a bear enjoying a sauna session sans a towel, thus the pixelated nether areas) and full of caramel, juniper, and yeasty flavors.

    Good morning BAs! I'm back!

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Got home yesterday afternoon after spending nine days in Bamberg and the surrounding area. The highlight of my trip was the time spent at Schlenkerla (pronounced Shenk' - erla for those of us who have been pronouncing it Shen - Kerla'). My raunch marzen:

Good morning and Happy Saturday BA’s (and WBAYDN#1964 ? Oopsy @SawDog505 :stuck_out_tongue:)! Today comes as a bittersweet day for The Staff and I, and please forgive me ahead of time for what will unassumingly be a long winded post. One year ago today, something magical happened… the first ever Glass of the Day Award was given out to our long since absent friend, @MUTINY . Well, today marks the 200th Awards which was (somewhat intentionally) prearranged for this anniversary celebration! That’s right, yours truly has been insane enough to administer this thing 200 friggin’ times over the last year!

Well, on the flip side to this historic occasion comes the bitter part to the sweet. This will be the last Glass of the Day Awards as well. It has become increasingly difficult to keep track of all of your wonderful glassware despite the ridiculously comprehensive archives (which are real by the way), and to be perfectly honest I just cannot keep up nor have the aspiration to do so. Sure, I will still give out the :grimacing:...!, and maybe even host an event ceremony for things such as ROWYBO, Beer Turkey Day and such, and I still intend on encouraging the Holiday Glass of the Week and my personal favorite, Stein Club Sundays during their appropriate seasons, but in general, it is time to say goodbye.

Hell, I am truly blown away that GotD has lasted this long! Especially considering how frequently The Staff had been sacked! I felt pretty awkward in its introductory days, and never expected to get the kind of positive responses, support, and participation from all of you. Which is why I felt the need to prepare this statement. To thank all of you for making this last year on BA my personal most enjoyable, interactive, and productive year yet. Thank you, a million times over!

And with that, to honor these last 365 days, I give you the finale of the Glass of the Day Awards with it being appropriately deemed the Glass of the Year Awards. I’ve decided to pay homage to some of my most memorable recipients.

GotY: The very inspiration that led to the first award ever given out one year ago today, and still perhaps my favorite glass I’ve seen (there is a reason my BA name is Lingenbrau folks!). The Lowenbrau flute from @MUTINY . I owe him every bit of credit, as he humored me through the early stages almost single handedly. We miss you brother. Cheers!

2nd: To the Champion of Champions, and arguably the most dedicated to Proper Glass Awareness (PGA) and epic thrift store finds, AND student artwork participation, @dcotom . One of my personal favorites of yours (and Alyssa’s) my friend, which was excruciatingly hard to find amongst your 18 GotD’s and 67 total mentions!

3rd: To the Viking of Vessels, and the King of glass harboring (or hoarding), winner of an astonishing 19 GotD’s and mentioned 49 times, one of my early favorites from @BeerVikingSailor . Still one of the most elegant and beautiful glasses burned in my mind.

Of course, we can’t forget the single beneficiary of the Glass of the Week Award, the infamous leg mug from the one and only @WesMantooth .

And last, certainly not least (quite the opposite in fact), I give you one last look at the honorable and admirable accomplishments of @goingbrokeonbeer (twice) and @JakeScully ‘s Proper Glass Awareness of Epic Proportions Awards (PGA). Unfortunately, @Shanex’s images no longer grace the historic WBAYDN #1478 page, so only Brian’s appears here.

    GotY.

Been easing myself off drinking so much lately so I'm trying to make each one count!! Up early and I don't have work til 3 PM so let's crack into something I've been holding onto. First time having this and it's tasting awesome.

Definitely a lighter body; pouring more of a mocha dark brown than that motor oil I was expecting and it's hot as hell, but delicious nonetheless!

    .
    Cheers everyone, happy weekend.

Hey BA's....yep, I think today is supposed to be 1694, not # 1964, ahh well!

Getting ready to head up to Cleveland and going on a cruise around lunchtime around downtown, that my gf wanted to go on...we will stop over at Ohio City at a few spots later after that....should be a nice day!

Thanks to @Lingenbrau for his epic and awesome GoTD awards and for making being on WBAYDN so much fun! I know that was a lot of work, and us regulars really appreciate all your fine and fun efforts! Thanks man!

    On to some beer!

Someone (not me) decided that 11 hours of sleep is a reasonable standard, so now my breakfast efforts are wasted, and it's basically lunch time. At least I can still enjoy a Breakfast Stout.

I don't blame you in the slightest; I think we've all been there: a pet project, fun but taxing and incredibly time consuming, and really done for frivolity vice necessity.

It's been super awesome watching your posts. The first GotD I ever saw, I was quite confused. Was this sanctioned? Was this normal? Was this art??? :grinning: But I really enjoyed it all throughout, and it was one of the very rare WBAYDN? posts that could earn a "like" from me without necessarily sharing what you were drinking. I appreciated the fun and effort.

    Cheers man!
