From yesterday and yes my head hurts....

We drove the four hours to Side Project for their limited release of Derivation Batches 1-3 as well as Double Barrel. They ran out of 1-3 before we got to the counter but were able to try everything except for Batch 2 (Vanilla). It was a good time indeed!

Still enjoying this beer. On the lookout for all things anchor. Their website taught me to decipher the bottle code. So now I'm excited about them.

And some hops for the day.

    Cheers.

I've been drinking mostly IPA's and a few sours lately. Time for a change of pace with a bottle from a six pack that was under the bar in the cave. It's a little faded after nine months, but still very good. The next batch will be out before you know it. I'm going to enjoy a couple hours of nothing on the couch after tackling the morning run and dog walk routine. I'm still a bit beat up from my weekend in Pittsburgh!:astonished: Cheers to the week ahead.....

OK, well, to kick things off today, enjoying my last Odd13 from the most recent sixer. Don't know if it's my last beer today...
Packed, mostly, for Seattle. Going to enjoy exploring that city over the next 4 weeks or so...
Will try to keep checkin' in and posting with the best thread here on BA. This WBAYDN group and thread is the only reason I keep coming back and subscribing. Cheers all!

Starting the day off with an Alesmith Speedway Stout can from 01/31/17. I wanted to drink one of these fresh but didn't get to it quite in time. Haven't had this beer for a couple years, in big bottle format. Glad it's in cans now. This is a really great imperial coffee stout. Tasting good right now. Cheers!

    Revisited this one . . .

Beautiful red gold color with white cap.

Aroma of caramel malt with a dusting of spicy hops.

Taste is malt forward with an emphasis on the caramel aspect of malt. It's a rich flavor that doesn't have any roasted malt bitterness and is rather soothing. Hop presence is muted while remaining in the background providing just enough counterpoint for the malt. Finish is clean with a mild malt aftertaste.

Overall it rides the middle road of red/amber beer with enough hop bite to keep things evenly balanced. More substance than the better Mexican ambers while being more lively than similar things such as Smithwicks or Newcastle Brown. It's also available fresher, at least around here, than the imports making it a safer bet to provide something a bit different to my casual beer drinking friends.
