I'm going to be in NYC for a few days next week, I've already planned to go to Other Half and Brooklyn brewery, but I wanted to try to make it to one (of a few) more places, does anyone have any recommendations, (beer stores, breweries, beer bars)?

Tagging along in this thread as I will be there as well. My only issue is that I am at the mercy of the family member who is planning our trip and I am not sure I will be able to get outside of the Manhatten area. I think that limits me to beer stores and beer bars from what I have read.

NYC is a very big place. Also, many threads on this topic already.

You are correct that NYC is a very big place, and I am sure that things change quickly. In my case I searched the term "manhatten" to try and narrow it down there was only one thread that showed up within the last year. It would suck to make plans based on old information and miss out on trying something great, I will be on a tight schedule set by my extended family (who has no interest in beer) and probably won't get a second chance. I know there are many great members here that enjoy being helpful and I look forward to seeing a response from one of them.

there are so many threads about NYC, you'll find a lot of info - even if its a week old you'll find great beer. Use beermenus.com too

Well, the one's that I am committed to going to are other half and brooklyn brewery (we don't get either in alabama), those I am considering but I am not sure about: brouwerij lane, tørst, and lic beer project

NYC is a city of neighborhoods, and they aren't all easy to move between.

    Regarding the ones you mentioned:

I think Brouwerij Lane is great. It's a bottle shop & bar hybrid without being particularly great at either of those roles, but I like it there. It's out of the way. If you go there, The Diamond is a good nearby small bar and Greenpoint Beer & Ale is a big nearby brewpub.

Torst seems to have legions of the devoted, but I'm in the middle on it. The decor is very unique. The service is great. The prices are high.

I haven't visited LIC Beer Project, but I've had plenty of their beer with mixed results. I thought they had a lot of promise but I'm sorta done with them. Don't take my word for it, they have their fans. If you go there, there's probably lots of other beer spots in that area now.

I get a sense that you like European beers a little more than the average BeerAdvocate user. Some good spots for Euro brews are: The Ginger Man, The Jeffrey, Spuyten Duyvil, Treadwell Park. Use beermenus to see what's on tap and check the updated date on their page to make sure it's not an old list.

There are lots of great bars in NYC. The local beers aren't hard to find on tap around town.

    Euro beers!

Just went to Treadwell Park for the first time last weekend. Its kind of the most perfect bar ever. A good selection of beer - and not just IPAs. They even had a Zwicklbier.
Plus foosball, ping pong and soccer on tv. Food we had was fine (except the lobster roll)

Uptown or downtown location? I've only been to the uptown spot. They don't get much conversation here. It's a big space. They get a thumbs up for having a cask option. They also have a crowler option - but it seemed like the employees use it more than the customers. If I remember correctly, they have different pour sizes too. Thumbs down for no longer keeping beermenus up-to-date. The biggest problem is that when the place gets packed (and it does) the bar area becomes very challenging.

Was the Zwickel the unfiltered Radeberger Pilsner? I think they claim that that's exclusive to them in the area.

torst is awesome. some beers are high priced, but it depends and gets overplayed for some of the gems they get that are reasonable for rarity. you can get glasses to go which is great proper glassware cuz the etches are oz markers and food is solid for the price and quality.

by other half kinda folksbier looks interesting though I haven't gone yet.

I'd say make a trip to the well and robertas for food since it's not far and you're an out of downer. great combo there. as is I've heard great things about in manhattan. lotta options though, lotta good ones mentioned.

    Yes, the Radeberger.
We went Sunday lunchtime, 61st st, with a kid so the games were perfect. I'd probably hate to go there or most places at nighttime. Service was so-so but wasn't an issue. Me and my kid playing ping pong probably annoyed the millennial crowd to no end.

Would definitely go to Threes if you're going to Other Half as it's pretty close by. Went there last weekend while visiting and thought it was a very cool space with a very good selection of beer available for take away as well as the bar/beer garden etc.

Besides Other Half, you'll be fine with Interboro, LIC, Singlecut, and Finback.
