This beer from Red Cypress. My what a sexy beer. Called Let There Be Hops. I was told of resin. Well I grew hops' better cousin and dabbled with it. I get what was meant by resin. My god. Just sexy. Yes I am fully aware that virtually makes no sense.

So what I'm asking is that what other breweries are testing out Idaho 7 hops? What of any information is out there? More specifically let's not discuss SN, but rather your local brewery. I'm guessing there are some using it, but only within their local community and it not being sold beyond the brewery itself.

Which I find muy muy sexy. By now you understand I find this hop tasty and delivers a satisfactory finish with a pleasurable desire to enjoy another. Something about it. The bitterness dances on that line of not enough, but too much. At some point you feel a slight spicy tingle.

Saint archer brews Citra 7 IPA which is citra and Idaho 7. It was ight. Didn't find it that sexy.

Not sure what the difference is between your local brewery and a larger brewery like SN when discussing hops.

The only to describe SN vs say Red Cypress is that RC makes very solid limited releases you can't get outside the brewery unless you buy in a 4pk at the brewery.

Several breweries around here do that. I'd say it creates a loyal following sorta speak. Their experimentation is that much more focused.

My first tasting of Idaho 7 hops and I'm very pleased with the result.

That's purely subjective. I feel some more nationally sold breweries tend to play it safe? Or they develop a brand. But does SN for example limited beers which are solid? Sure.

Just that for me I'm not too keen on their beer. They're kinda the go to, but they earned their place.

However, their throne is beginning to decrease.

Red Cypress has their game set. They obviously know what they want vs testing the water. Rather they go full force. Like Avery or Founders. They just have solid understanding of what they want for their product.

I would imagine the Idaho 7 hops are just one part of the equation of what made that beer so good and not the entire reason. It also sounds like it had good balance between malt and hops and was just a well crafted beer.

Idaho 7 tastes like a pear had a one night stand with some dill and chives. Nothing sexy about that at all.

Let There Be Hops Citra was (in my opinion) better than LTBH Idaho 7, but the Idaho 7 version was great, too. They just have a solid recipe that is working well with the different single hop experiments.

I had a few different Idaho 7 beers and I always thought they tasted SUPER earthy, but thinking back on it, dill and chive is not a bad description. Did not like.

To me it's more like a papaya that someone dropped in a hamster cage. All cedar and tropical fruit.

One of my favourite local breweries, Trailway Brewing Co. (Fredericton, New Brunswick), brewed a "New England Style" IPA using Cashmere, El Dorado, and Idaho 7 hops. Good god was it a tasty beer.

I could see cedar. There's a woodsy herbal flavor that I just don't like.

I know I've had at least a couple of beers that used Idaho 7 hops somewhat recently, but the only one I know for sure is Tanto, which I really dig; brewed by Barrier, about 10-15 miles from here...

Also features Motueka, Citra and Chinook hops...

Hop Butcher for the World - local Chicago brewery - is releasing Two Flat soon which is brewed with Idaho-7. Curious how it will be.

Bellwoods put out a version of their Monogamy single Hop series with Idaho 7. Monogamy Double Dry Hopped Idaho 7 Hop Hash. It used both Hop pellets and Hop Hash. Pretty good stuff. I hope they make it again.
